{Lucin's Cave}

Kevin turned to the two Lieutenant's on the away team. "Alright, we know that we can sent individual's back to the past when the Captain and Lieutenant Kronnelti are using the displacer pad," he summarized, "I am reluctant to send anyone else as neither has returned. What other options are available to us?"

Trace thought about it. "First question, how long is a solar cycle? If it's shorter than a Federation standard year, and we're talking about three days, I say we all go back in the past and let the cycle play out. Once we're done, we come back and no harm, no foul. Likely, that ain't the case here."

Kevin contacted the ship and asked the length of a year. 332.7 days of 25.3 hours was the response.

Trace shrugged, "It was worth a shot."

K'ner looked worried. "If they're here, not in the cities, then the Captain and Kronnelti won't be back with them. One of us will have to go to them on this single-person pad and get each on the pad one at a time to come back here. Assuming someone is here to keep our 'protector' on task."

"Well if waiting it out isn't on the table, we have two options as I see it. One, we try to understand the mechanics of these devices and get our people back without our little friend's help. Two, we eliminate the threat."

K'ner looks at the little man as the others turn their focus on him as well. "What do you think? If you bring back our crew, we can depart.... and if you're lucky, we'll run into the Gorn and provide just the distraction you need to stay hidden. Or..."

"There is no way for me to bring anyone back," he replied a little desperately, "The process to return has to be initiated from the past."

"Then I suppose we'll need to send someone back," Trace said.

"I'd rather not anyone take the oral medication without having a chance to analyze it," K'ner looked to Lucin, "Do you have any of the antidote here?"

"No, it is all kept in the cities for immediate distribution," Lucin replied, "Anyone who goes through individual displacement is offered a dose as soon as they arrive."

"We could get environmental suits from the ship," Trace offered, "Would allow us to avoid the poison without taking the medication."

"Wait a minute," Kevin interrupted, "Lucin, how large of a city are you able to displace?"

Lucin gave him a questioning look, "A little over twenty thousand residents."

"Is the displacement radius at least a kilometer in diameter?" Kevin continued.

"Oh, much more."

Kevin nodded, "And do you have any more of the large scale displacers?"

"Yes, we have a couple in reserve in case one of the city displacers malfunction," Lucin admitted.

Trace narrowed his eyes, "What are you thinking, Commander?"

Kevin gave a broad smile, "Dangerous thoughts, Lieutenant. Dangerous thoughts."
