{High Council, Q'onoS}

Isbethal nodded, "They have him time to finish this, my lady." Isbethal snickered at Mira. "I hope this kid is worth it."

Mira took a deep breath and then let it out. How had her life become so insane?
Her eyes met Martok, and she raised an eyebrow at him.

Martok grinned, then nodded. oh yea, the old goat wanted blood. She stood up and started to take off her dress. For some odd reason, a woman removing her clothing got a lot of men's attention. Who knew?

They seemed slight disappointment she had on a body suit on in the end, but it was a vision to behold and left many grinning.

Mira took two mek'leth from Isbethal and twirled them around in her hands to check the balance and feel. They had always been her weapons of choice. She looked to Martok to see if he would object. He waved a hand for her to continue.

As Mira walked to the center of the room. Many a klingon males stepped aside for her. She had to say it was hard not to feel tiny and dainty passing through so many men over six feet.

In a loud, clear voice, Mira called out "J'pok the QI'yaH or was it J'puke, son of no one? You have insulted my house and myself for the last time. Stand and fight me or crawl back into the slime where you came from. My mate's house will never be yours or its people follow a lowlife as yourself."

She wiggled her fingers in a come get some motion.

{Admiral’s Yacht}

Kevin rematerialized on the transporter pad of the USS Lionheart with a screaming Kolar still in his arm. Less fortunately, the Klingon woman was still at arms-length in his grasp doing her best claw his eyes out. He had hoped that full extension of his arm would have put her outside of the transporter’s cone but no such luck. The long leather coat that he was wearing saved his arm but she was occasionally successful in scoring a cut to his face.

The wound on his shoulder was radiating greater pain and Kevin could feel his arm strength beginning to flag. “Tranquilize her,” he yelled at the Operations petty officer manning the transporter control. The woman stood dumbfounded until Kevin repeated the order. She grabbed a hypospray from the medical kit and approached to inject the Klingon.

“Again,” Kevin shouted through gritted teeth. The petty officer complied and administer a second dose, then a third for good measure. It took a few seconds for the medication to take effect but then the woman weakened and collapsed to the deck unconscious.

Kevin breathed a sigh of relief and ordered the petty officer to beam the woman back.

“I can’t, sir,” she replied, “You ordered the shields raised as soon as you were onboard.”

He had, remembering his standing orders to the crew of the Lionheart, and he didn’t want to drop them just yet.

“Then lock her up in a stateroom,” he commanded, “but make certain that you remove anything that could remotely be used as a weapon.”

“Yes, sir,” the petty officer replied.

With Kolar still squalling in his arm, Kevin tapped his comm badge, “Open channel. Kill the bastard.”

{Thall}

Thall heard the coded message from Kevin son of Ni’kolai that he had Kolar safely aboard Mira’s ship and tapped his own communicator. With Lionheart no longer jamming, he was able to communicate with his warriors, “Our Lady is in distress. Fall back for immediate transport.”

The order was a trifle dramatic and probably overstated the danger that Lady Rasmehlier was actually in but it was the quickest way to get his warrior to break off a successful assault when their objective had, in their eyes, not been obtained.

There were exclamations of confusion and frustration but they all did move out of the headquarters building and into the open areas. Rasmehlier ships in orbit began transporting them out and to authorized areas just outside the High Council compound.

{High Council}

J’pok was over the table with growl a Bat'leth in his hand. "WOMEN, I will teach you a lesson, then I will take you and your house."

Mira smirked. " You can test that assumption as your earliest convenience. QI'yaH son of no one." Mira gave a slight curtsey before readying herself for an attack.

With a roar, he lunged forever, nailing her in the jaw with his huge fist. Mira fell backward but was caught by one of the house leaders and pushed back into the fight lightly as if he would have preferred keeping her from harm.

Her tongue came out to touch her lip. Yep, it was split. OK J’pok had a longer reach than she had thought. She spun forward, ducking under his Bat'leth. Placing a small foot on his knee to stop her spin, then kicked off to spin out of reach. Hearing the crack she had been hoping for and his bellow of pain.

Through her ear piece, Mira heard the words from Kevin that she had been longing for.

=/\= "Kill the bastard!" =/\=

It meant that Kolar was safe and she could end the charade.

Mira took a few more glancing blows. At this rate, she would be black and blue all over. She gave far better than she got until she saw an opening. Swing her mek'leth down, it struck his wrist, taking it off, then she spun, taking full advantage of his distraction. Mira swung her mek'leth , taking his throat out. Pink Klingon blood flew everywhere. "That is for touching my son. Does anyone else wish to challenge me for my house?" Mira stood tall even if she was a little out of breath.

“Well fought, Daughter of Rodale!” Martok stood clapping. The other member of the High Council followed his lead and clapped as well although some were less enthusiastic. “I believe that this will settle any question of the succession of the House of Rasmehlier.”

Lady Grilka of House Grilka was the first to clasp forearms with Mira. She congratulated Mira on her assumption to the head of her house but warned that Gharal would likely need to be dealt with. Mira nodded. Gharal had been happy enough when he was “sharing” power with her. Now that she had claimed her place, he might be displeased enough to become a threat. But that was a problem for a different day.

Thall entered the Council Chamber with two of his warriors. The majordomo was splattered with blood, some of it his own and bore the evidence a close fight with blade and bolt. Nevertheless, he wore a grin as wide as his face. “Lady! I have heard the good news that House Rasmehlier once again has a strong and worthy leader! Our ruse worked and your son is safe! My only regret is that I was not present to see you give the killing blow to that roD!”

Thall took Mira arm in a warrior's clasp. "all are well?" she asked him. At his nod relief swap her.
Isbethal gave her a little salute as she slipped out of the Great Hall.

Thall smiled "The celebration will be glorious tonight."

Mira froze "I am going to check on my man and child Thall. We still have enemies here. I do not want my people to let down their guard enough to give them a chance to retaliate. We keep our guard up. Start new training with our people. "

Mira waited until Martok called an end to the meeting before she left. Reaching for her commbadge Mira frowned. That was right she had given it to Kevin. Kneeling down Mira tapped Vaytoc's commbadge on his collar.

"Rodale here. two to beam up."

{Admiral’s Yacht}

Vaytoc trotting off the transporter pad and went to look for Kolar. Mira moved slower. She hurt all over. Her jaw felt like it might be broken from the hit she took along with a few ribs. The cuts and bruises were starting to hurt.

Mira looked at the petty officer, "Do we have anyone that knows medical? I need them. if not I need a bottle of your strongest whiskey."

"Not as such, Captain," the petty officer replied, "We have an EMH that is very competent if somewhat sarcastic. Commander Lance took the baby to the Admiral's quarters."

As Mira neared the quarters that she had been using, she heard a baby cry. She had been sending Kolar regular vids of her talking to him. Would he know her? Kiara had promised the boy loved hearing her. She followed the sound until she saw him.

Kevin was standing near the bed. He had built a wall of pillows around Kolar to keep him from rolling off the bed. Mira walked up and looked at the child. In Trill she said " Now is that anyway to treat your father? "

Kevin turned to hug Mira. She winced as she tried to smile. He let out a muffled groan as she hugged him back.

"ahma" came from Kolar.

Mira nodded "ma ma" then she touched Kevin shoulder he had been hurt to. "da da"

Kolar's little head whipped his head around to look up at Kevin eyeing him suspiciously, "ah da?"

"He's been raised around Klingon males and probably thinks I look strange," Kevin say, philosophically, "He'll come around."

Mira plopped on the ground not being able to stand anymore. "Thall will want us to stay for a while and handle business crap. But we need to leave. Things aren't settled here and I would rather not get us pulled into anything else." her jaw hurt making talking difficult. She also needed all the blood off her.

"Just give the word, Captain, and we will leave this all behind," Kevin replied gently, "but first, we have a little problem."

Mira stared up at him with an expression of resigned disbelief, "Now what?"

Kevin rubbed the back of his neck and said sheepishly, "When I transported off of Qo'nos, I picked up a hitchhiker. This Klingon harridan was attacking men and she got caught up in the transporter beam. She's recovered from the tranquilizer that we gave to her but is attacking anyone who comes near. I was thinking that as a native Klingon speaker you could calm her down.

Mira nodded "Yea I think I have that much left in me.
she went to kiss Kevin and winced. "Ouch! " then she chuckled. Leaning down to Kolar she kisses his cheek "Ma ma and Da da her here now. Your so big." Kolar smiled touching her face. "I'll be right back."

Walking into the next room. Mira wonder if the woman would even know her was or was she going to get attacked?

The elderly Klingon dropped to a combat stance as soon as the door slid open but she immediately dropped to her knee when she recognized Mira. "Lady Rasmehlier," she cried in surprise, "I had no idea you were aboard."

"Lady, I beg your forgiveness," the woman pleaded, "and ask that you grant me a d'k tang that I may end my shame in the most honorable way possible."

Mira frowned "why by all that is holy would you do that?"

"I failed you and my House by allowing J'pok to take your son," she moaned, "then I compounded my dishonor by failing to save him from that awful, yellow-haired beast."

"Well no one else was able to stay with Kolar when J'pok took him and has to the Yellow-haired man? Don't you think he looks like some little guy you take care of everyday. I am very thankful you did not hurt my man, and the father of my child."

The woman looked shocked " he came to rescue Kolar? He is with you? Oh my lady!"

Mira held up her hand "Tanom listen carefully. I have killed J'pok, I have taken my place as head of house but I am taking Kolar with me to Star Base 364 I am station at. Your choice is to remain on Q'onoS or you may join me on the star base and continue to serve as Kolar’s nanny. It is up to you."

"You killed J'pok and took the house? I go with you." Tanom said.

Mira nodded she had hoped so "No more fighting with Kevin." At the woman's blank face Mira sighed "yellow-haired beast? his name is Lt. Commander Kevin Lance. He the XO on my ship and father to Kolar there will be no fighting with him or being rude."

Tanom nodded.

"good now if I don't get some medicine attention.....EMH." Mira called out as she walked back to room.

"Please state the nature of your medical emergency."

"I have been beat up." Mira frowned where was K'ner when she need her! She slipped out of the body suit and whimpered. Oh yeah broken ribs for sure. Her under things had probably more material then her bathing suit. She just had to get that blood off her now.

K'ner smiled outside the door to the suite. She hadn't recognized the pseudo-EMH voice. The petty officer had been more than glad to let someone else handle the situation, ah the stories he would have to tell the Admiral.

'She must really be exhausted.' K'ner knew she would be if she, herself, had gone through all that... This was one of those times she appreciated being a peon in the ranks. Safer... Now, see if she notices I walked in instead of just appearing like the actual EMH... Good thing she never locks her door.

As K'ner stepped through and over to Mira, she said in an even voice, "I have chosen a form from your crew to provide a more pleasant and relaxing medical intervention. Does it meet with your approval?"

Mira blinked a few times but .....but nodded. She could almost think K'ner was with her. odd how did the EMH even know who her medical Chief was. Clearly she had taken too many hits to the head today

K'ner opened her pouch, removing a probe to start scanning the CO... She started noting a long list of injuries. "Damnnn. You really must take better care of yourself. Perhaps a change of diet. We have a nutritionist on staff." K'ner almost forgot the flat cadence for her EMH voice. She watched for Mira's reaction... she might be tired, but she didn't get to be Captain of a starship and crew because she was dense.

After K'ner confirmed her health was stable enough, she shot Mira a hypospray to ease the majority of discomfort. It wouldn't do to make the Captain woozy though, at least not without her permission, especially now. At least the Captain would be able to clean up with less overall pain. "If you prefer to cleanse yourself, you may. Or I can clean and sanitize as I go. As the adrenaline has worn off and the painkiller takes effect, you may find yourself drowsy, though quite capable of functioning. I am also programmed for infant and child services, I can examine the boy-child if you require."

Mira sighed as the pain started to ease. "do what you think is best. I have no more strength for anything right now...." Mira had give 130% leaving nothing to fall back on. It had been a do or die kind of fight.

"As you wish." K'ner set another rib to knitting and a local. It would be well along before the feeling came back, assuming the intrepid Captain could stay out of battle for a couple of days. "You should follow up with your regular physician in the next day or two, or sooner if any sharp pain or complications arise. Good health Captain."

Turning, K'ner looked over at the adversaries in the room, the Nanny and the XO. Sounded like a telenova holovid series if she ever heard one, not that she watched those... much... With a slight limp she stepped up next to the makeshift bassinet, looking down at the wee one.

She reached out, waiting to see the child's reaction. He grabbed her finger, swinging it back and forth with a healthy grip for one so young. K'ner gently walked through assessment, making notes on a forearm padd and scanning for any abnormalities. He watched her with bright eyes, not looking everywhere as an infant is prone to, but with cognizance. This one will be trouble, she surmised, just like his mother, with some of his father's traits to counterbalance. Perhaps another starship captain in the works...

K'ner stepped away, avoiding the duo still sizing each other up and checked on Mira. She'd managed to clean up, fortunately, but looked to be gone to the world. She must feel safe enough with the XO in the room so K'ner was satisfied all was well... for the moment. She fired off a report to the Captain's inbox, one for Mira Rodale, and one for Kolar Rodale.

K'ner wondered if the commander needed any attention but she gathered he'd brook no sign of weakness around the nanny and stepped away. He'd call the K'ner "EMH" should he need some help she was sure. With one last look around the suite, K'ner stepped back outside, favoring her leg and keeping her face placid until she got back to the squad to get some attention of her own.
