Mission:
CSI: Chuck Norris
Location: USS Chuck Norris
Timeline: Present
on:
{Briefing Room}
Captain sat at the front of the table with Mira on his right and G'ginloss on the left as they waited for the rest of the staff to show up.
"This isn't looking good, Sir. I have spent the last few hours going over system code and protocols. I think I found them all, but I keep getting interrupted by the delegates." Mira told them
G'ginloss nodded. " I'll take a second look to make sure."
"Thank you, that would be a load off my mind, G'ginloss." Mira smiled.
The door swished open as the command staff started to enter.
As Kronnelti is sitting at the table he starts getting a headache, looks up between what's going on. I can say I was going through the ship and talking with my officers making sure they were 100% ready for anything.
Mira nodded "I think even with that it might not be enough Kronnelti. This seems very planned out. Until we know the reason why. We are going to be at disadvantage."
Mira waited until everyone was seated.
Mira sat forward her arms resting on the table in front of her. We had a murder this morning ." she let that sink in. "Ramej-Kino, the Grazerite delegate. We all met him last night at the dinner." She looked to K'nar
"K'ner, do we have a time of death? " Mira asked.
"I'm not able to tell the future commander." K'ner almost enjoyed the momentary look on her face but kept her own quite serious.
Mira chuckled at the joke.
"To be more precise, our DB is very, very dead. The CMO confirmed TOD precisely at 3 bells, so the spike of the energy burst wouldn't be noticed. Someone knows our waste protocols and the plasma discharge was enough to cover up the sensor hit as if it were a nominal anomaly. Further, that still should've triggered the weapon discharge alerts, but that's another matter you're already aware of."
K'ner slid a PADD across the table. "Sensor reports for that period, AND since we last docked. Someone fired a burst just post dock release, when we shed the energy docking barrier and slip to open space as a similar masking condition. I believe that was a test. When no alert was forthcoming they knew they were in the clear. You'll note the location of the discharge."
K'ner waited and knew when Mira's eyes got to that line. "We also now have the energy signature, so if we can find the device, we can prove it was the murder weapon. In fact, if we can get close enough to pick it up in a scan, we can locate it sooner than later. And no, it's not showing up at the moment so it's being shielded somehow. And no, it's not one of ours, which is a bit of a relief, but not the part about someone getting a weapon on board. I suspect it would have to be an event like the docking situation, where something could be physically smuggled on board, like the new gym equipment... and again, even that had to be coordinated by someone on the inside. As you said, this has been carefully planned. We have an agent of some kind here, but we also have someone working with them... And that pisses me off!"
K'ner saw, as much as felt Mira taking a deep breath, so she calmed herself and slipped in the clincher. "The CMO also confirmed cause of death as we now know, and the energy pattern, but there was an ever so slight anomaly that we followed up on. We would've reported it already but these delegates get all the fun high level security and I just got this as I was heading here. Our DB may not be the delegate in question..."
K'ner didn't pause to let all the sudden questions kick off. "While we have no idea if the delegate is actually alive, somewhere, this DB is a clone. A very, very good clone, but a copy nonetheless. We don't have the clearance to ascertain if Ra... if the victim is actually this clone version, or in reality this is a body double for just such an occasion. I leave that in your capable hands."
"What makes you think that the DB is a clone," Lieutenant Lance asked.
K'ner turned to look at him. "Exhaustive medical scans. Getting his detailed medical records was what took so long."
Lieutenant Lance held K'ner gaze for a a few moments then replied, "Obviously but if the clone is 'very, very good' what tipped you off that it isn't Ramej-Kino?"
K'ner started to answer in medical speak and thought better of it. "Essentially everyone has a molecular signature, based from their DNA and mixing in a couple of variables. Even these variables, while different from person to person, do not deviate of themselves once determined. Because we were analyzing the energy signature, along with the standard autopsy, and everything double-checked since it's a dignitary, a couple of things seemed suspect with the data.
"Then compare another analysis we could get, another inconsistency. Request the proper records... and wait... Once that controlled data was received, we confirmed the anomaly, however slight. There's no record of the delegate ever having been subject to molecular reconfiguration... and no, that's not the same as beaming across in the transporter, although we have looked at those records as well... just to be thorough. But that would have its own evidence, even if that had been the case."
Lieutenant Lance nodded in acknowledgement as he wrote on his PADD. He respected the Assistant CMO's abilities but for the perps to leave something relatively easy to find in the thorough autopsy that would be performed on such a high ranking dignitary, well, it felt a little too convenient.
Mira shook her head not knowing what to make of all of this. Looking to the Captain she shugged "What is going on? Do the Grazerite have clones? Was the man taken before coming on the ship then his clone's killed here or is he faking his own death."
Mira placed her finger tips on her forehead feeling a headache coming back. "We need to find that weapon. Perhaps where we find it will help tell us what is going on. The only things I remember of my research of the Grazerite is they hate violence and they make decisions very slowly. Rarely experience disagreements in their own society and their placid nature. Oh and I had to make sure no meats were on their table." All of that information didn't help or add up to the problem they had on their hands.
"Commander, I can bring a team to the docking area and search for any data we can scan, I can bring spike for the extra nose," said Kronnelti.
"If spike can pick something up our scanners can't, I'd like to bring someone from science as well get everything documented."
"But this is both you and the captain's call," says Kronnelti.
Mira nodded "Of course do whatever is needed Kronnelti. Vaytoc is in cargo bay 1 if you need him as well." Mira passed the PADD to the Captain. "there is one more thing our subspace transceiver was misaligned I had to realign it last night after the dinner. It could be nothing but... with everything else going on scan that area as well. "
"Interesting. As far as our guests need to know keep it still not working." The Captain ordered. "it will keep them from asking too many questions."
Mira nodded, "Sir they are starting to ask questions."
The captain nodded "it is to be expected Mira."
kronnelti excuses himself from briefing, he heads back to his room and calls for spike. "Boy we are heading for the cargo bay to get Vaytoc."
As kronnelti gets off the lift Vaytoc jumps on Kronnelti with excitement, ok ok said the Lt. I need the both of you to sniff out any possible indication if something has happened.
both Spike and Vaytoc give out a low growl and head off as Kronnelti goes the other way to the bay doors to see if he can find anything.
{Shuttle Bay}
Carefully looking around the shuttle door opens up and somebody stumbles out yelling "Help Me" both vaytoc and spike rush over to give this person assistance, Kronnelti rushes over as well....Sir are you ok?
The delegate looks up and says no as he's covered in blood, =/\= Kronnelti to sickbay I need staff in cargo bay 1 asap! =/\=
=/\=Kronnelti to Commander Rodale, I have the delegate that was shot=/\=
{Briefting Room}
Mira frowned then looked to K'ner her commbadge had just gone off calling her to cargo bay 1. Then Mira looked to where The security chief had been sitting. When she had said do what was needed she hadn't thought he would just leave the meeting. Tapping her commbadge " Would you repeat that last part Lieutenant?"
=/\= I have the delegate that was shot =/\=
"K'ner, better go see if we have another delegate shot or do we have dead bodies walking?" Mira shook her head " things are getting weirder by the hour." She said to the room. "Alright people your are dismiss."
K'ner nodded, moving off double-time and tapping her commbadge. =/\= "Lt Kronnelti, hold them there and start basic care. I'm meeting the team at your location." =/\= She tapped a few keys on her comm-padd to get her team moving, they might even beat her there...
