Mission:
Starbase 364
Location: Starbase 364
Timeline: Present

{USS Conqueror, Holodeck}
“Computer, Initiate programming frozen lock down.”
Mira stripped down to her boxers and sports bra. She picked up both the mek’leths that appeared and started her stretches to warm up her muscles. “Computer level 12. Safety protocols engaged.”
“Affirmative, Captain Rodale Lance.” The computer replied.
Mira readied herself for full combat. The computer would pick random size and strength opponents, increasing there numbers at each round. They would keep coming at her until she dropped or yielded. Mira always fought until she had nothing left. It was one of those programs that you couldn’t win. It was how her life was feeling right now.
The comfortable, warm fireplace was replaced by a dark night sky with 3 moons. The light was enough to see things coming at her at about 20 feet in a circle around her.
There was growls and shuffling of their feet as they moved closer. It didn’t take long for first contact. The sound of metal hitting metal echoed around her. Each strike her blades intercepted made harsh vibrations run up her arms.
She was about 30 minutes into her routine when the ship's communicator interrupted.
=/\="Bridge to Mira," K'lar's voice came over the communicator, "Your husband is here. He wants to know if you are ready to talk."=/\=
Mira frowned but weapons clashed together deflecting a blow that would have ended her. Crap! The man had terrible timing. “computer freeze program” Mira’s breathless reply came. She dropped to one knee trying to get enough air in her lungs to talk. “That depends… on what he…. wants to talk about. “ she said between gasping air in.
She had hoped to continue this program until she dropped. Looking around the forest ground she counted 24 opponents defeated.
Perhaps if he was here to end things then she could just let him tell her he was moving on and then she could go right back to killing things until she lost consciousness. Then she could get a bottle and drink until she was unconscious again?
Her sport bra and Feminine gym shorts was covered in sweat and gore. No sense in changing clothes she thought. He seemed to be only interested in heavy set muscular apes!
{Bridge USS Conqueror}
K’lar’s chuckle ran out in the silence of the room. “Mira he is here now. I believe the both of you need to talk and clear up some misconceptions the two of you are having.”
That brought on a little sob from Mira. K’lar frowned looking at Kevin as he heard her grief. Damn it he didn’t want to hear her cry. He cut his end of the conversation
“Listen she loves you…..probably more then she did my brother. In Trill and Caitians customs. That little bonding thing you did with that little girl would be considered you putting that girl and mother before the woman and children you have now.” He gave a little shrug. “it’s not an earth thing I know I lived there most of my life on earth. Mira never had a family. That damn Caitian kept her from her family and trained her to be a survivor because her parents died in his place. Not out of love or anything else just out of the fact they died in his place. I know or at least I think the words you said in the arena was to drive her away but they cut to deep. She took them literally in her eyes you mocked her as a woman, your mate, a leader and a warrior.” He nodded as Mira’s Reply came back.
“fine I am in the holodeck. Computer resume program.”
K’lar laughed “ok” he told Kevin then looked up the program Mira was playing “if she doesn’t freeze program when you get there you should freeze it. Otherwise you will not have her attention at all.”
"Oh, I'll get her attention," Kevin promised.
(Uss Chuck Norris)
Meanwhile back in the Chuck Norris.... Dianna talks with Awal about Mira.
Dianna: Awal I miss your sister and kolar and so does Venus
Awal: I know honey me too but she has business to attend to.
{USS Conqueror, Holodeck}
K'ner looked over at K'rath, keeping the little vid running in the corner of her HUD. "She's tiring a bit. Won't be long now and we can carry her back."
They both went to attention as someone came down the corridor and approached them.
"Lieutenant," Kevin greeted the haz team leader as he entered commands into the holodeck control panel, "Here to enjoy the fireworks?" .
"I'm sure that I have no idea what the Commander is referring to," K'ner answered blandly.
Kevin gave a non-committal grunt as he tapped his PADD against the panel and received an acknowledging chime. He handed the PADD to K'ner.
"Level 12..." K'ner related softly, reaching to the console. "Ready?" At the nod, she keyed the door, the howls of rage within quite evident now. The door closed swiftly and K'ner cast another look up and down the corridor as she spoke to K'rath again. "This just got more interesting."
The new enemies were spawning faster, even before her current targets were dead, threatening to engulf Mira from all sides. Her muscles screamed in protest and with each block and thrust, her strength ebbed. It would not be long now, she knew, until the sweet embrace of unconsciousness relieved her of all her cares and concerns…for a little while at least.
But she refused to go willingly into the short goodnight and urged her limbs onward despite their growing protest. So focus was she on the enemies before her that she was only vaguely aware of the computer’s tones indicating a change in the program. She quickly dismissed any concern it engendered as she feinted and thrust to dispatch one of the three enemies before her.
So focused was she that Mira didn’t detect the approach of a lizard-insectoid hybrid from behind until it screeched aloud as if prepared to strike. With only a split second to avoid the creature’s claws and mandibles, she tucked into a roll and away from the attacked. She immediately sprung to her feet and gutted a rotting humanoid from behind.
She caught a glimpse of a grey clad figure descending upon the hybrid and an instant later, the creature collapsed under the weight of the landing figure. The creature shook in a death throe as Mira finished off another humanoid with her blades and the grey clad figure arose, pulling a long stiletto attached to the underside of its wrist from the hybrids brain stem.
Consumed by her blood lust, Mira didn’t hesitate to launch herself at the intruder. Unperturbed, the figure drew a long sword and parrying dagger, and deflected her attack. The cowl of his hood was pulled down nearly covering his eyes but a blonde beard was plainly visible as he adopted a defensive stance.
Mira spun around to strike, but the hooded figure met her blade strike for strike. Her ears started to ring and her vision darken around the edges. Finally, she thought.
Mira heard a loud howl bellow out from behind her. She quickly spun out of the way and climbed up a tree to see it before she had to fight it. “Son of targ, what the hell is that?” Mira yelled. She had only seen something like that in old earth horror movies. Wolf were, or was it werewolf, she couldn’t remember it was something like that but is wasn’t part of the creatures listed, she was sure of that. Come to think of it, that other creature she killed looked like a zombie. Mira cursed as she swung down from the branch. Both feet connected with the center of the beasts chest knocking it away from her. She then rolled out of out of the way.
The wolf-like humanoid recovered and turned on Mira, the skin of its lips pulled back into an ugly snarl. It locked eyes with her and see could see the hunger in its soul. She lowered her stance, ready to spring away or in attack, depending on what the creature did.
It moved forward with a sudden charge but was intercepted by the grey-clad figure just before it reached her. Hit from the side, the creature's charge was deflected as the grey-clad figure withdrew its longsword from the creatures left oblique. It swung a claw at its attacker who parried and stepped back.
Having been distracted from her, Mira had the opening that she needed. She leapt forward and plunged her mak'leth in to the creature's back. It went down with a howl but remained still as Mira withdrew her blades and faced the grey-clad figure.
"We can fight each other," he said, "or we can fight together."
Mira blew a curl out of her vision then narrowed her eyes. This program wasn’t set for conversations . She quickly glanced around to see what else had changed. The hot spring shower and rock basin tub was there ,three Moons over head. She swung as a targ jumped at her. The hooded man remained, his face still hidden from her view . Her next thought was Kevin hadn’t showed up yet or had he? She looked at the man closely. The blonde beard, it must be… That also gave a new meaning to his statement fight each other or fight together’
Her faced showed the confusion and conflict she was feeling, quickly her eyes darted around the small break was over. The next round of things were running towards her or should she say them. She had no idea if there was a them but she was running out of energy.
“Together” she said still sucking in much needed air, her response came out as an unsure confused answer.
She turned quickly taking on the next crazy thing coming at her. By all that was holy she had no idea what it was. Some sort of water creature walking on two legs.
The computer’s voice chirped in “level 13 achieved”
Mira groaned she didn’t have the energy for the next round.
{ Outside the holodeck }
K'rath watched as K'ner tapped in another creature. "I still do not understand this war-wolf. And this water creature makes even less sense!"
K'ner grunted, an equivalent of a small chuckle for anyone else. "Were... Werewolf. A creature of fantasy in some cultures, that was stricken with a disease that caused the transformation. It also provided regeneration, heightened strength, enhanced senses. Kind of like you, only you're ON all the time. The water creature was just a twist to keep her guessing."
K'rath wasn't sure if he'd just been complimented or dissed. "I know how to relax. I did it like, a week or so ago. Most boring ten minutes of my life!"
K'ner smiled over at the behemoth. "Once this assignment has resolved itself, we'll set up another training date. Other than the inevitable med bay visit after, you can't get much better than that!"
K'rath nodded with his own grunt, then something more, something between a deeper grunt and a growl. He looked forward to catching this little medic with the wiggly face...
{USS Conqueror, Holodeck}
The water creature was proving to be incredibly difficult to injure. Mira's blades sliced through the rippling surface only to see the water reform. Kevin's longsword pierced with ease but showed even less effect than the slash from the mak'leths. He was resorting to punching using the sword's basket hilt.
The creature swung with its mighty arm. Kevin shouted for Mira to look out, then pushed her out of the monster's reach. Unfortunately, that left him wide open to the swing that he had saved Mira from and the arm connected with his torso in a loud slapping slash.
Kevin was airborne almost immediately, tossed ten feet to the side where he landed with a resounding thud that forced all the air from his lungs. As he laid on the ground, fighting for breathe, he thought that he was blinded. Then realized the cowl had fallen forward across his eyes. He pushed the cowl all the way back to complete expose his face.
Mira landed hard, but rolled with it. Coming to her feet, still in a crouch. Looking around, she tried to shake off the dizziness. She saw Kevin down, but as she started to get up her vision went black. Really, her body picked now to shut down?
She landed on her knees, then fell face forward.
The computer voice stated “Competitor down. Program frozen. 30 minute count down."
"Computer, save and end program," Kevin ordered between gasps for air.
The fire, vegetation, and the sky with the three moons dissolved into the grid pattern of the holodeck.
With the safety protocols engaged, the landing wasn't as painful as it would have been in reality. Still, Kevin expected to feel it in his muscle and bones tomorrow morning. He stood slowly, ensure nothing was actually broken, then walked over to Mira's unconscious form and picked her up gently.
"Lance to Bridge," he called out.
=/\= "Captain K'lar here," the reply came, "Did you and my cousin work things out?" =/\=
"Well, we didn't get to the talking," Kevin admitted, "but she didn't attack me on sight so I am going to count it as a win. She passed out from exhaustion. I am going to take her back to the Norris. Would you be willing to keep the kids?"
=/\= "You don't want them with you?" =/\=
Kevin grimaced, "The ship is so small, if our conversation gets heated, I don't want them to hear us yelling."
=/\= "I would be happy to keep the children for you. Kolar is having a blast playing with my sons and Kiara is in love with Ashla." =/\=
"You should think about giving her one of your own," Kevin suggested, "Girls are different than boys."
=/\= "Hmmph, I don't need you to push me. Kiara is quite vocal in her self-advocating. We will beam you over to the Norris at your leisure." =/\=
"Thank you, Captain K'lar," Kevin said sincerely, "For everything. We are ready to beam over."
And a few moments later, Kevin and Mira were energized and the holodeck was vacant.
