Mission: The days of our lives
Location: Starbase 12
Timeline: Present

On:

{Starbase 12}

Mira raised an eyebrow at the station. “It’s packed?” It was rare to see.

“Good thing we have pre-approved spot waiting for us.” Korra nodded.

Mira grinned. “Chin has been wonderful with all his help. Awal, you good with docking us in that spot?”

“I got this.” He told her.

Mira smiled and rubbed her hands together “Ok, supplies to get us to Earth, dinner, and drinks. Oh, there is a Klingon bar! That could be fun! nIb'poH? Means déjà vu I like the bars name“ She grinned. “One good thing about this ship" she looked around "is we are going to feel spoiled being back on the Norris with all the room it has.”

The rest of the crew chuckled in agreement.

Mira laughed. She had never thought that would happen her ship was small. “And I can’t wait to see the upgrades. Chin said we got them all and more.“ she gave a little nod excited.

“All ashore that is going ashore. “ she told them letting the go.

K'ner was still monitoring the transport on their 'find' in the debris field. That would elicit an investigation from the starbase, as a navigational hazard if nothing else, but K'ner was still curious as to what was in the pod... She would have to keep an eye on reports and see if she could keep track of it.

"As soon as the cargo bay has been sterilized and sanitized, as well as Deena and Kotsoo, I'll check on the purchases. Just let me know where the formal dinner is being held." While she waited, she reviewed the growing list of repairs and upgrades on their ship.

Mira walked in looking things over "You got this under control?" Mira had been worried about bringing it on the ship.

Awal and a few of of his security team keep watch. He turns to Mira, "we got things under control"

“OK, get it turned over to the base with all the scans we completed, then get everything done fast. This base looks crowded. I am betting that there isn’t going to be a holodeck open, so the sooner we get done here the sooner we can be back with our family. I am going to have a look at nIb'poH to see if we want to eat there or just relax and punch a few people. "

{Mess Hall}

Vaytoc and spike were well fed, laying out on the cold floor. The two of them had eaten all most all the gagh. Mira smirked. “You do know that could have lasted for a few more days right?”

Vaytoc rolled over with a happy expression on his face and sent her a message of getting more

“Piggy. Of course we are getting more. You two aren’t the only ones that eats that stuff.” Mira rolled her eyes as she walked out.

{ SB12, nIb’poH }

Mira took a deep breath, enjoying the open space of the promenade, even if it was crowded. She, then, made her way to the bar. It boasted a large menu.

Looking in, she frowned. It looked really crowded and loud. Perhaps she should find out if they had a less busy time? It didn’t look like they could all sit together.

“Captain” Nod greeted her. “Is this the place we are eating at?”

Mira nodded. “I had planned on it, but there doesn’t seem to be a big enough table.”

He chuckled. “We can take care of that.” Mira laughed as he and Korra started moving people and pushed two tables together.

Mira took a seat. “A take charge kind of guy, nice. Ok, why don’t you two order for the crew? We want a feast and lots of drinks. I’ll pay.” Mira sat back, letting them order. It sounded like they were ordering a few of every kind of the meal they had on the menu.

Mira nodded. “Sounds good. Add extra plates, a bottle of whiskey and keep the bloodwine coming.” she placed her thumb on the PADD.

Sitting back, she watched Nod. Was he here to captain Sit? or did he have something to say? It was normally one of the two.

“Are you feeling any better from last night?” Nod asked her.

“Headache is much better and I am ready for the next one to start.” Mira chuckled as the drinks were placed on the table.

A Klingon approached the team’s table. He was dressed in the para-military garb of a merchant but his stance suggested that he was a warrior. He approached from the front of Mira, stopped a respectful distance away from her and kept his hands in plain sight.

“Lady Rasmehlier, I bring you a missive from Lord Big Tower,” he addressed Mira in Klingonese, “He requests the pleasure of your company at late day repast aboard his ship.”

Mira raised an eyebrow “I don’t know a lord Big Tower and I am not accustomed to joining men I don’t know on their ship. If he would like to talk it can be done here.” She waved to the room “but I plan to leave once my crew has completed our tasks.” Mira frowned and was glad that Nod and Korra had joined her.

The merchant's expression was mostly unreadable but the furrowing on his brow was familiar to Mira. She did not have time to consider the recognition as a group of Klingons at the another table turned to look at them. One sneered “I heard lady Rasmehlier was having trouble keeping her newest toy happy in bed and he ran off with A Klingon woman! Perhaps you would care to join us?” He waved to his 3 friends “I am sure we could teach you a thing or two of pleasing a man that is if you don’t break?” he looked her over as he and his friends laugh.

Angered Mira took Nod's blood wine and threw the drink in the Klingon’s face “The house of Duras is full of petaQs. You piece of baktag are unworthy of living. Mak’dar BiHnuch Ha’Dj bah lo’Be Vos.” (pathetic cowardly animal thing without courage.)

The men roared standing up as Mira came quickly to her feet throwing a round house kick and punching the next guy.

Nod's roar mixed with the others, wading in to the fray with an elbow and a sweep. Korra subtly slipped sideways, just another unassuming, if a bit large, female, and then suddenly rounded a tankard over another's head from the table.

To her surprise, the merchant stepped forward to Mira's left, protecting her side from attacks in that direction.

(Mess hall)

Awal finally finished his detail after handling over the PADD with all the information and scans on what was found.

He walks in and finds Spike and Vay’toc stuffing their faces with the rest of the gagh.

He heard K'ner's voice: =/\= "The captain has started without us. We should make best speed to join the festivities..." =/\= He heard a bit of a bounce in her voice that led him to believe she may have been moving while she transmitted.

{ SB12, nIb’poH }

Nod kicked the knee out of the spouty Klingon that was about to pull a weapon. "Tsk Tsk Tsk. That's naughty."

"GRARArRARRARR!" Was his only response.

Nod stepped back and pointed to the left, causing some confusion as the guy barely managed to look to the side just as a small heel met his eye. The flash of the cosmos was incredible, just as amazing as the depth of the darkness afterwards.

Korra was sitting on a cart, swinging around the other two from the table while the Captain took down her own opponents. She figured she'd just keep them busy when the whirlwind behind them had just ran out of targets.

"Now boys, what's with ganging up on poor ole me? Especially when there's such a teeny little thing right behind you." One got the message and turned, the other was still struggling a bit with the ringing in his ears to figure out the reference and stared at Korra, looking for an opening.

{ outside, nIb’poH }

K'ner watched from the entrance, more concerned after her initial survey with who else might be in attendance and could enjoy an advantage. She spied Corlin at the bar and gave him a nod. The chin raise she got in return let her eyes continue to roam, knowing they had add'l resources if needed.

She watched an older Klingon standing off to the side, waiting as some elders do for the youngers to wear themselves out. She stepped up beside him, arms crossed as well.

"Your little Captain is quite the spitfire. She is a proud legacy in her house, if a bit unconventional... very refreshing."

K'ner exhaled sharply, not quite a chuckle. "For certain and for true. What brings you down here? This isn't your normal kind of place."

"I was going to invite her to my ship for a meal, away from prying eyes, but someone beat me to it. She politely declined them for the moment but then someone clearly has more butt than brains, and she's proceeding to ring out both. So I'm just waiting."

K'ner did chuckle this time. "That's one of her greatest strengths, and she generally gives no quarter. There is a line one should not cross, without expecting to pay for the attempt. But... lessons can be learned..."

He barked deep in his throat. "This time those lessons are hard learned by a handful of youngers that will hopefully be wiser this day." He paused after hearing a particularly sharp crack of a bone breaking. "Should we wind this down?"

K'ner shook her head ever-so-slightly, still scanning the room for other threats. "She's just getting warmed up. She'll be even more ticked off if we interfere..." There was a crash as three Klingons were bowled over by the incoming Awal. "Our Chief of Security."

"But you can tell me who that male with the odd necklace is across the way there. He has a particular interest in my captain, very calculating, and I find I like it not at all."

There was a pause in the action as two more bodies were pulled clear from the floor, then something fell, and hands and feet started flying again.

The Elder subtly glanced in the man's direction. "Ah... Have you ever heard of... what is the fleet word... The Hammer I think would be the word?" No one was paying these two any attention, the action was out on the floor, but a fly on the wall would have noted that no universal translator was in use, just a casual conversation.

K'ner nodded. "I get your meaning. I have seen that in my research on a Klvll Klingjil... curious that one but this guy here doesn't meet my expectations, nor what I thought he would look like."

"The complete phrase would be The Hammer and The Claw. This, my friend, is the second half of the power duo. There must be something of importance here for the Claw to be away from the Hammer, whom I believe was last reported on SB364."

K'ner sighed. "That is what I am led to believe as well. I would have to believe we will be meeting this Hammer at some point in the near future. But this Claw, now I have a new avenue of attention, now that I understand better what I've read..."

They continued to chat as Captain and crew called out, loudly, for more bloodwine, and more opponents. K'ner knew she would be treating a few drunkards shortly, and wasn't really looking forward to it. She messaged Deena and Kotsoo to carefully secure the ship once everything was stowed properly that they had picked up on their shopping trip.

Mira wasn’t able to see over the brawling crowd so she climbed up on the bar counter, kicking any of the Duras men that tried to grab her. She laughed as another dropped. Then She grabbed a bottle of whiskey and waved to K’ner. Her crew looked like they was having fun.

K'ner twisted her hand at the wrist twice where it rested on the opposite arm, not sure if the Captain would even note the return wave, shaking her head just a bit with a light chuckle. "It's not a boring life..." The Klingon standing next to her laughed as well...

Awal hustled in as he saw Mira on a counter with a bottle of whiskey..he thinks to himself "not again"

He then sees people trying to grab at Mira as he throws them off to the side and keeps her safe

Suddenly Mira was jerked backwards by a strong pull to her collar. The move was fortunate as a chair was brought smashing down in the space where she had been standing. Awal was ahead of her and immediately lashed out at the offender that had tried to smash Mira. She tried to move forward but was arrested by the the hand of the merchant at her collar. "You should not," he said in Federation Standard.

K'ner stepped carefully towards the bar in case she needed to be in position to catch the unconscious man once the Captain had had enough...

Mira raised an eyebrow at the merchant’s strength and speed. She should have noticed him getting up on the bar but she hadn’t. She also had not had anything to drink before the fight. So she wasn’t as drunk as she was pretending to be. The man had a good hold on her little black sweatshirt so she had two choices. If she was quick enough she could drop down. It would leave him holding only her shirt but that would leave her in only a sports bra or she could try and pull away. The shirt might tear, freeing her or it might not and he would still have a grip on her. “There are a lot of things I shouldn’t do but I do them anyways. Let go. Or I’ll make you.” Mira kicked another man getting to close.

"Promises, promises," the merchant replied with a wry smile but he did release Mira.

Mira raised an eyebrow at the comment. That wasn’t a normal response from a Klingon. They usually just growled. Why did he look so familiar? She was so focused on the man in front of her she wasn’t watching what was going on around her. Mira's feet got swept out from under her and she started to fall.

Quickly the fall stopped and she was back in the merchant’s arms “I believe you’re much safer right here.” He told her with a smirk.

“Do I know you?” Mira’s voice was just above a whisper because she really thought she did. It felt to comfortable this close to him.

Corlin was on the Klingon that hit her just as Mira started to fall.

Awol yelled “Times up.” It meant security was coming. Normally their fights didn’t last this long or get this wild. This had gotten all out of hand and she was sure it had been planned but not by them.

The Hazard Team made a corridor to the door, clearing a path for an expeditious exit... K'ner shot a message to the ship to be ready to depart.

"You do know me," the merchant told Mira, "but I am not supposed to be here. You can come with me or I will meet you on Earth."

Mira bit her lip not understanding him. “yea I am not supposed to be here either or so I am told but I am not going with you. I have a ship and crew to take care of. PLUS lots of trouble coming after me.” She laughed “Now why would you meet me on earth? I am mated. Even if I don’t know where he is at the moment there is no need for you go to earth.” She was about to say more but she got a look at the Klingon trying to stand in the Shadows of the bar “crap I got to go.” She pulled away and swung down from the bar counter then took off running with Awal.

Tapping her commbadge Mira said “prep for take off.”

=/\= done captain just waiting on you.=/\=

She would have loved to say beam us on board but the base security systems wouldn’t let them. SO how had she been kidnapped in the first place?

“We got trouble Awal. House Klingjil and house Duras is here.” Mira told him as they made it to the ship.

{Bridge}

“Everyone on board?” Mira asked as Awal took the Pilot’s chair.

“Yes captain. We are secure”

Mira nodded.

“but captain we haven’t gotten clearance.”

Mira narrowed her eyes as she walked to a console typing in a command code and then she heard the docking clamps release the ship. “go now.”

As XO of a Federation base she knew all the command codes. Biting her lip she sat down. Perhaps that was how they had gotten her off the base?

“ shields up emergency speed. GO dark until we lose them then cloak. Direct course to Earth.” Mira narrowed her eyes in thought. Now how had that merchant known she was going to Earth? Who was he?

“we are out of transporter and weapons range.”

Mira nodded “cloak and get us home. Keep up emergency speed as long as we can then drop down to best speed. We can’t afford to be dead out here. Set sensors for long range.”

So much for dinner.

{Jubilant Embrace}

The hologram disguising his features dropped as Kevin removed the forehead prosthetic. The starbase security team had been so focused on pursuing Mira and the crew from the Norris that he had easily been able to slip away back to his ship.

He was disappointed that Mira had not accepted his offer of tea with Baron Longspire. He still did not remember anything from from the months that they were imprisoned in the Matrix but had read the crew's report thoroughly enough. Perhaps something had been lost in translation.

It had been a longshot. He had intended to get Mira to the ship to explain what had happened on Amar VII, he obligation that he had committed her house to. The need to rapidly depart Starbase 12 had changes that and he really couldn't fault her for wanting to stay with her crew. It was the same choice he would have made.

The Slivin had made an unauthorized departure from Starbase 12, getting a head start but the Jubilant Embrace's engines would permit him to get to Earth a couple of days ahead of Mira. Plenty of time to get Shan'nara and her entourage settled as well as pick up his own children from Thor.
