Location: Amir V
Timeline: Current

Off:

Mwahahaha

On:

[Freighter]

Dea’nys sat in the captain’s chair of a small freighter, some thirty thousand kilometers from the security perimeter around Amir V. A brilliant Engineer, he had lived on Amir V for decades before he was forcibly asked to leave by the government for ‘endangering the public’ as they put it. The truth was, they were too small minded to grasp the advances he had made in using machines to manipulate brain waves.

After five years of exile, he had painstakingly planned his revenge. His latest invention, a device that resembled a game, held the key to his plan. After the latest sales figures had come in, he had decided the game sale penetration into the society of Amir V was sufficient for maximum results.

Relishing what was about to happen, he pressed the button on his console.

[Amir V]

Trace and Geneva strolled slowly down one of the broad, beautifully decorated avenues in the capital city, just taking in the fresh afternoon air and browsing the shops and merchant stalls.

They had idly noted that several of the visitors and merchants were not actually manning their stalls, but instead staring off into space, a strange device over their eyes.

“What do you think they’re doing?” Genev asked.

Trace shrugged, “Looks like a game of some kind. I heard someone mention that a local toy shop sells them. Personally though, I’m not here to play games.”

“Same,” Geneva agreed.

Just then, an argument broke out between two of the merchants. As one, they had stood up, thrown the game devices to the ground, and then lunged at each other. One of them grabbed the other by the throat and began pummeling him in the face with his free hand.

Instinctively, Trace stepped in front of Geneva, his body tensed and ready to spring to her defense. Somewhere in her brain, the part that wasn’t horrified by the sudden outburst of violence, a warm sensation spread through her. Her knight in shining armor was there to protect her.

All over the square, similar fights were breaking out. The sudden rage and violence was shocking.

“We better get out of here.” Trace muttered.

[Freighter]

Dea’nys giggled as he watched the mayhem ensue on Amir V as thousands of people suddenly had their amygdalas suppressed and their fight or flight centers activated. His revenge was at hand.
