"Commander. Astrogation confirms that we are 1.1 million years from our original location...er time."

Kevin turned to the duty Science Office. "What degree of confidence?"

"99.99%" was the reply.

Kevin did the math in his head. That still left a range of over 100 years.

"Tactical," Kevin called out, "Have you been able to locate the Captain?"

"Negative, but there is a large population center 50 kilometers off our port side."

K'ner stepped off the turbolift and looked across at the commander, concerned, having heard the last comment.

"There's got to be a way to pinpoint our position more accurately," she said after a moment. "We don't know if we're here before them, or after. The land-side team can't tell us if they beamed back successfully so we have to assume we're still looking for them here."

Kevin nodded, "That is a downside to this plan. We can't know if they have made it back to our 'present'."

K'ner paused for thought. "Also, what if they're being held. They don't exactly blend in. Once they appeared there could have been issues, you know the Captain... and Kronnelti. Or maybe they're shielded somehow if they're incarcerated..."

Her eyes suddenly sharpened. "What about that? If they were in danger, a Klingon warrior would wreak havoc on the locale, especially if his adopted sibling was at risk as well. What if we scanned for damage? Weapon discharges and the remains thereof?"

Kevin stroked his beard. It had almost come all the way back in after the mission to Paarth Elion Three. "That is true," he admitted, "although at this distance it will be difficult to differentiate Klingon-caused damage from anything else but his weapon signature will be easily differentiated if somewhat weak."

"Flight Conn, take us closer to the population center," he ordered, "Tactical, scan for phaser energy signatures in addition to the away team's comm badges."

"Lieutenant K'ner, get your Haz Team into enviro-suits and be ready to recover the Captain and Lieutenant Kronnelti."
