{Suraya Bay, boat restaurant}


After a while, Rico cleared his throat. “So Tank said you had a test you gave guys before you would get serious about them. Have you …….” He nervously chuckled. “Have you tested me?”

Mira’s attention had been on the twin moons, but her eyes snapped to his. “No, I haven’t, and I don’t really plan to. It would forever change things, and ……I don’t think we should chance it. “

Rico raised an eyebrow. “What is it? The test.”

Mira sighed as she leaned back in her chair. They would have to get moving soon so other people could use the table. She placed her thumb print on PADD and then stood. “It’s a kiss.” Mira shrugged, playing it off as unimportant. She called to her brother to let him know she was heading back to shore. Vaytoc, as always, followed her.

{Beach}

Mira sighed as she swam to shore, squeezing the water out of her hair. Rico came up beside her. “So, did Kolar pass this test?

Mira smiled. “Yes.”
“Has anyone one else?” Rico asked her, curious.
She nodded, “One other but ……he is still in love with someone else……I think. Or just isn’t interested in me.” She shrugged, thinking she was just going to have to deal with it. Putting her heart on lockdown would be a good plan.

“Ok, so this kiss has to be really good?” Rico laughed.

Mira smirked. No. It’s how it makes me feel. It lets me know if it’s worth my time.”

“And you don’t want to give me a chance?” He asked her.

“Rico, it’s not that. Do you want to leave all of this?” she waved a hand around Risa. He shook his head no, “Well, in a few days, I will be. Why should we change anything?”

“Because I am here now.” Rico told her, making her raise her eyebrow.

“And the guy that passed the test will be on my ship in a few days, not that it will change anything. He has his work, and I have mine. It’s for the best. So do you want to be my friend or…” Mira asked him.

“Yes….let’s get a drink then go for a walk on the beach.” He told her with a smile.

Mira nodded. “That sounds fun. I am going to have to contact my ship and see who hasn’t taken some time off.”

Rico nodded. “If someone hasn’t?”

Mira grinned. “Then I drag them off the ship….for their own good, mind you. I am betting my doctor hasn’t left the ship.”

Rico raises an eyebrow. “The one that is part of you haz team?”

“Yep,” Mira told him, taking the huge coconut drink the server was passing out to guests.

“How do you plan to do that?” he asked.

“Simple, challenge her to a hike up the 15-mile path up the mountain. Then, a zip ride down the mountain. She can’t resist that! Then I’ll see if she wants to join us cliff climbing.” Mira smiled.
