Location: DS9, Ops

Captain Michael Intermeezo stood close to Colonel Kira. The two of them were monitoring the situation carefully. Neither wanted to instigate war by misreading a Zaj manoeuvre. Suddenly there was an explosion on the main viewer. One of the Bolian freighters had inadvertently crashed into a cloaked Zaj ship, destroying both in the process.
“They have cloaked ships!” Kira yelled, almost disbelievingly.
Michael shook his head, “Damn. There’s at least 15 ships out there that we can SEE, how many are out there and cloaked?”
Kira slammed her fist on the console in front of her, clearly the woman was frustrated. After years of the Cardassians, and then the Dominion, she had really hoped for a longer period of peace. Just as she was getting lost in her thoughts, Dax spoke out urgently, “Colonel, the lead ship appears to be charging their weapons!”
“Shields to maximum. I want reserve power ready to kick in when needed.” The Bajoran woman barked.
On the viewscreen the lead ship fired it’s weapons. Five bright red glowing circles started making their way towards the station. Five more appeared to be fired towards the Chuck Norris, and another five towards the Defiant. When they seemingly hit the station there wasn’t any explosions or even any damage to the shields.
Michael, who had been bracing himself for the impact, looked around. Everyone else was just as surprised as he was. “Report!” He asked aloud instinctively.
Commander Dax ran her fingers across the sensor console as quickly as she could. “Unknown. The five objects appear to have stopped approximately 500 metres away from the station.” Her console bleeped loudly, “The objects appear to be beaming somewhere!”
Moments later there was a call from a familiar voice, “This is Quark! Some things just appear on the promenade! Five big giant egg like things that hatched! And five big lava monster things just came out!” There was the sound of weapons fire in the background. “Get down here NOW!”
Colonel Kira darted a look towards those present. The concern on her face clear for all to see.
Michael spoke aloud, “Those things are probably on the Chuck Norris and the Defiant too.”
“There’s nothing you can do about that from here.” Kira said solemnly, “but you can help me and the station.”
“Of course.” The man nodded.
Kira moved past the man and towards a hidden security locker on the far side of ops. She passed each crew member a phaser and held onto a phaser rifle for herself. “Kira to security, intruders on the promenade. Apprehend if you can, kill if you must. I’m on my way down.” She looked at Dax, “Stay here. If those things get up here you know what to do.”
The trill nodded. “Yes ma’am.”
