Check... Aye... Yes Sir... Carrying on...

Mission: Tomorrow, Before Yesterday
Location: Earth Spacedock
Timeline: Current

Paxton had spent the last few days onboard the Chuck Norris, personally overseeing her upgrade and refit. He paced the bridge, waiting on the senior staff to arrive. “Ensign, if anyone arrives please send them through to the ready room.”

The young man at the operations station answered nervously, “Aye Captain.”

K'ner noted the request in the ops log and watched the new CO disappear through the sliding doors with its subtle swish. She exhaled, wondering what pressures weighed on the Cap'n every time she'd seen him in the last few days.

It had been a while since anyone had really been aboard, other than technicians now and then. Being assigned the mixed slot for security and medical support, amongst the other skeleton crew, had left her with plenty of time for contemplation.

Time had dragged on, and on, relieved by monotony, reinforced by tedium, and brightened by the reduced illumination lighting on each deck. It had perked her up significantly once the refit began and the foot traffic increased exponentially.

On one hand, that complicated her otherwise dull daily routine, but at this point, she'd almost take, almost, a forward position in a combat unit... whew... She hadn't wished that before!

The crew was bolstered by new arrivals, some just here for the refit, but some beginning to arrive as permanent duty. K'ner had confirmed she would be remaining aboard, so this should be a less-than-suck assignment very shortly; she certainly knew the ship inside out!

Her thoughts returned to the Cap'n's ongoing mood, hoping his inbound staff would be able to bear a good bit of the load and he could relax... as much as the most senior officer on the ship could.

... and maybe quit the 'young man' nods she always got on his brief acknowledgements in passing. Perhaps she should change her hair style so that her Flaxian appearance was more feminine?

Nawwww... Now she wondered how long it would take for him to notice, and whether he would make the connection. . . Her day was looking up.
