{Two years later, Earth Spacedock}

Captain Paxton Beckett, as known as Pax to his friends wasn’t a particularly happy man. He’d been tasked by Starfleet to bring the USS Chuck Norris out of mothballs, and had been set the impossible task of repopulating and relaunching the ship within two weeks. They were now approaching day 13 of those 14 days, and Paxton was starting to worry. They just weren’t ready.

Two years ago Captain Aurther Winters had been arrested and tried on unsubstantiated claims that cost him his rank and his commission in Starfleet. At least that was the rumour. In reality, he’d been handpicked by Starfleet Intelligence to carry out covert operations within the Cardassian Alliance. How long this mission would take him was anyone’s guess, but the only person connected with the Chuck Norris that knew Winters’ true mission was its new CO, Paxton Beckett.

Since Winters’ “incarceration”, the Chuck Norris had been effectively mothballed within Spacedock. But now Starfleet and its allies were facing a dangerous situation that threatened to cascade across the entire Federation and beyond. The Chuck Norris was needed once again.

Paxton had spent the last few days onboard the Chuck Norris, personally overseeing her upgrade and refit. He paced the bridge, waiting on the senior staff to arrive. “Ensign, if anyone arrives please send them through to the ready room.”

The young man at the operations station answered nervously, “Aye Captain.”

Paxton moved quickly into the larger room and took a seat in one of the several chairs that surrounded the large oval-shaped desk.

Now he would need to play waiting game and pray that the previous officers of the Chuck Norris had received their orders to return to the ship.
