Mission: Into the mirror
Location: Harbinger
Timeline: Present

ON:

{IKV Harbinger}

Mira walked around, amazed at the changes to the ship. It had the definite Federation luxury she had hoped for without losing any of the strength the Klingon ship had while in service to her late mate. Kolar had loved this ship.

“Captain! Captain?”

Mira turned her head to see Ensign Dobbs running to her with a PADD in his hand.

“Last minute transfers.” He told her, clearly out of breath from his run. Taking the PADD, she frowned. “Not these three. No way in Gre’thor will I go on a mission with this guy!”

Ensign Dobbs nodded. “Montgomery told the Admiral no. He knew how you would feel, but Admiral Proll said it was mandatory. Otherwise, in his words captain, he said ‘you could just cool your jets at the base’.”

Mira narrowed her eye. He said that, did he? She thought for a moment. “Fine, have them transported to the ship. Remove all weapons and put Carnell in a detention cell.” She smiled. “The other two can share quarters.”

Ensign Dobbs said, “Aye, Captain.” before quickly taking the PADD back and moving to have her orders followed. Mira tapped her new commbadge. It looked like it was non-Federation. In fact, anything that had Federation marking on it was either removed or altered to appear civilian. “Captain to Awal. The three new crewmembers joining us are section 31. No weapons, Carnell is to be detained in security. The other 2, I don’t trust, not if they are on his team. If he questions the order, tell him delta 38”

=/\= understood, Captain. =/\=

She nodded, satisfy that problem will be out of hair for the whole trip, or at least until she calmed down.

{Mess Hall}

Well, this had been an interesting surprise. They had updated the cooking area so the ones that wanted to cook could and a few replicators were there as well. It was large, too. One of the biggest rooms on the ship, so it doubled as the meeting hall too.

“First off, I have one thing that I need to say. We will be gone 6 months without contact from home. If anyone has a problem with that, leave now. Your honor will still be intact.” Mira raised her voice to be heard.

No one moved to leave. In fact, they all started to take seats. “Good. Montgomery, take us out. At the per-set coordinates.”

=/\=Aye, Captain! =/\=

Reviewing the gathered people, Ech’am recognized several, but others he did not. It may take time to gain the knowledge he had before about the occupants of the crew, with all the additions, but he was already well on his way to being caught up. He had missed being on a crew such as this.

{ Detention Block }

K’ner scrunched up her eyebrows. “Section?”

Awal nodded.

“I can’t say I’ve ever had a satisfactory dealing with them. They tend to seem overbearing and pompous, at least once their cover is blown or they’ve wrapped up an operation. Leaving the mess up to whoever is left.” K’ner stepped into the cell with renewed vigor.

Once she was satisfied, she looked at Awal as he scanned. Nodding once, he departed to take care of his other duties and K’ner waited. She stepped to the console and keyed the barriers up, then down, running diagnostics. One thing was for sure, the Klingons took their security seriously, plus with the mods she’d just made, it would be next to impossible for anyone to escape, at least under their own efforts.

With that in mind, she clamped on higher security protocols limiting access to this prisoner. One of the executive staff would have to be present during any and all interactions, and the dampening fields were a nice touch that was now immediately useful any time the barrier was de-activated.

K’ner sent Billingsly a message to have that cryostasis pod prepared for use. If this guy gave them any trouble whatsoever, she would just lock him in suspended animation until they were ready to thaw him out when they returned to base.

=/\= “Security Two… Transporter One… Our guests are about to arrive.” =/\=

K’ner placed her hand on the console. =/\= “Roger that. Package 1 straight to me please, and you can deal with the other two.” =/\=

=/\= “I’ve got Nod and Margo here from your team. I’m sure they can communicate the delicacies of the new assignment. Transport in 5… 4…” =/\= The ensign smiled at the two large individuals with the serious expressions as his hands worked the controls, glad he was on their side…

K’ner watched the cell, counting down in her head. Her finger rested near the dot on the console to clamp the barrier fields down, just waiting for the subdued lightshow to fade.

“…and then that Tyranian girl said…” The man stopped speaking as he realized that he had not arrived with his companions, not to mention he was in a small space that did not resemble a transporter. Turning he saw a Flaxian through the open doorway, dressed in a generic-looking jumpsuit, some Klingon flash on her shoulders and one arm.

“Carnell…” K’ner said flatly. With a slight nod she reviewed the scan data in her HUD as the man considered his situation. He appeared clean but she would check the medical scans closely. She sent a message to the transport team to leave any gear he'd planned to bring along at the station.

He looked around the frame of the doorway, then at the woman and nodded as well. “I’m afraid you have me at a disadvantage. In more ways than one. And just who might you be?”

He noticed her arm was resting on a console, finger poised. He reached out tentatively, slowly, obviously waiting on the flash-pop as he touched the invisible barrier. Even though he was expecting it, he wasn’t prepared for the full effect and found himself unfolding from the floor where he fell, his arm hanging limp and his hand aching as bad as he’d ever been injured before. He had a new, clear understanding of Klingon efficiency.

K’ner appreciated the level of Klingon thoroughness even more. She waited for him to regain his feet. “Now now. I can’t believe you haven’t done your research and don’t know me by face, much less by crew makeup and a nametape on my shirt that says ‘Lt Betaras’. But now that we’ve got that out of the way, I’ll do away with all the warnings and platitudes in the interest of time. Rest assured, I will not look kindly upon any distraction to our mission. If your status becomes anything other than honorable guest on his best behavior, you won’t like the prompt alternative. All I’ll say about that is, barring complications, you will eventually be returned to base without any further detriment upon our return from this mission. Any questions?”

K’ner could see several things going through Carnell’s mind, even with the stoic expression he maintained. She maintained her own and waited for him to come to a conclusion.

“I assume you’ve blocked all communications and my locator has been cut off, so my department will be aware of that absence. This is not going to go well for you.” He seemed quite confident in his statement once he’d decided subterfuge was not an option.

K’ner shook her head. “We departed once you were aboard. Your companions are being briefed as we speak. And we’ve no doubt cloaked and adjusted course. So your department can do whatever they like, that will not be a concern of ours for the foreseeable future.”

Carnell’s confidence weakened a bit and K’ner could tell he was doing what he could to curtail an angry retort.

Assuming he was done with their conversation, K’ner made her closing statement. “I would suggest you get comfortable. You have a supply of water and a handful of snacks for between meals. I’d suggest rationing those if you want them to last because other than the meals themselves, you will not be receiving any additional. You are not connected to the ship’s computer, but you do have a selection of printed media to occupy your time on this flight. If at any time we should encounter any turbulence, I’d suggest you grab your bunk and hold on, with your head between your knees and kiss your… assets… goodbye, because the rest of us will be occupied with whatever caused said disturbance.”

K’ner smiled slightly. “Please sit back and relax. We do hope you enjoy your flight and never consider us for any of your future travel needs.”

Her finger tapped the control and the door opaqued, at least from the inside. K’ner watched him for a time as he eventually started examining his cell, finding the aforementioned snacks and drink, the books, and activated the bunk. He definitely wasn’t happy but she was only slightly surprised he didn’t throw a tantrum, which also meant he was worked on an escape solution.

She checked her alerts for the cell and her team would regularly review the vid later to keep an eye on him. She signaled Awal and the Captain that the new guest was comfortably secured.

{Mess Hall}

Mira nodded as her PADD beeped.

Carnell has been taken care of, at least temporarily.

“What I am about to share is going to sound crazy to most of you. But our mission is to save not only the Federation and Klingon empire but our whole universe. We are headed to Klingon space for a short time then we will cloak and head to Orion space.” Mira waved a hand as she sat down. Our enemies are in a different universe called the mirror universe. The mirror universe is just as it sounds. It’s a mirror of our universe. I know from person experience it does exist . But it’s not like we are here. Terrans are dangerous and blood thirsty. They rule that universe and view anyone not fully human as worthless. They have conquered almost everyone. Everyone else, they are at war with. I have been working with the Chancellor on the group of mirror universe Klingons that have entered the Klingon empire to try and take it over. They are being dealt with.

"We are going to be dealing with the Terran empire. From what I have found out, they have destroyed most of the needed supplies in their own universe and have turned their eyes on ours. We need to fine the gate way they opened with the help of the Orions here in this universe.”

There was a few growls about the Orions. They helped the Gorn, now the invaders. Mira held her hand up for silence.

“There is much I need to cover with you all, so hold the anger down.” She gave them a smile.

“Lady Rasmehlier, how different is this mirror universe?”

Mira nodded. “Ok, that is a huge question. The last time I was here, we did download everything we could get our hands on. The humans first contact with the Vulcans was when Dr. Zefram Cochrane, the inventor of the warp drive, on April 5, 2063, in Bozeman, Montana, after his first successful warp flight attracted a Vulcan survey ship, leading to the historic first official contact between humans. The humans here made friends with the Vulcans. The Terrans murdered all of them and took the ship. Gaining a lot of power over the mirror universe. Trills are not devoted to knowledge, they are assassins for hire and if you see the Doppelganger for myself, run. She is a cold-blooded psychopath who killed her own brother for his Symbiont.

"This is not the Mirror universes first attempt at an invasion of this universe. First one took place when I was a nineteen year old Ensign. They hired the Orions to kidnap a group of woman. I was one of them. I was saved by Kolar Rasmehlier. He managed to get all of us back and destroyed the gateway in this very ship.”

The Klingon were banging there fists on the tables in approval. She smiled.

“Ok, there is more than just shutting the gateway. We will be looking for a Federation ship that was sent to investigate. Starfleet has lost contact with them. The Gorn, the Orions, the mirror universe? I have no idea. The same group of woman taken when I was 19 was taken again. All of them but me. This started a few years ago, so there is no telling how many are still alive or if we will be able to find them. I am honor bound to, at least, try to find them. Intel has revealed that a ship bearing the Terran empire symbol has taken my son, Jason, and they also believe my husband, Kevin Lance. Why? I don’t know.” She sighed, really worried about Kevin and Jason’s safety.
“There is one more thing. We have 3 new humans joining us, they are from section 31. Their Commander is a man named Carnell.” Her fingertips rubbed her forehead. “their was a time I worked for Section 31. On my first and last away mission section 31 Carnell was the leader of our team. Things went sideways and he left me to die. For that reason he is sitting in a cell. The two men with him need to be watched. “

“why not toss them out the airlock?”

Mira smirked “they might end up usefully. Any questions?”

"Why were you and the other women abducted nineteen years ago?" A Klingon asked. Mira did not know his name but recognized his livery as one of the minor houses that had allied itself to House Rasmehlier in the past few years.

Mira raised an eyebrow. “I was 19 years old at the time. It wasn’t 19 years ago.” She smirked, she wasn’t telling them how long ago because someone was trying to get her age. “At the time, Starfleet thought it was just Orions testing their strength and a new weapon. You know how they are. Lord Rasmehlier found out I was taken and he went after the Orions, retrieved all of us and, in a battle, he destroyed a ship using the gateway and it collapsed. Now we know a little more.”

She bit her lip. “test subjects. They had females from a lot of the Federation planet’s. What better way then to know your enemies?” From her PADD, Mira activated the large screen behind her. “This is Angelica Lox. The Angel of Death. One of the buyers saw me. The double of their death angel. Even at 19, she was one of their deadliest assassins. And they decided I was needed. I don’t know if they planned on me joining her or replacing her.” Mira shrugged. “Luckily, the bidding got so high the mirror universe team didn’t have the payment with them and I was bought by someone else in this universe and rescued by Kolar.

“if there is no other questions I want to cover emergency escape plan. If any thing goes wrong and you get separated from us. Make your way to DS9. The Medical transporter will get you back to our universe. Of course your going to set off alarms and they will need to prover you are who you say your are but that is better then being stuck in the mirror universe.”
