M’Niras frowned at her answer. “I have the clearance to know!”

Mira shrugged her shoulders. “Then, you ask Dralohk and come back and tell me.” She gave a little grin. “It would save me so much trouble.“ she batted her eyelashes at him.

He looked annoyed, then turned his head to see who was chuckling. “Damn it Mira, you’re being difficult.”

Now that she was annoying him, she smiled. “I did learn from the best.” Mira watched as the Medic ran an instrument over her knuckles.

“That Klingon will not tell me a blasted thing. Speaking of troubles, Ambassador Dalar Lugir.“

Huffing, Mira turned to him. “He kidnapped me, planned to force a symbiont on me and take over my life. I requested security and was drugged. If my doctor hadn’t shown up, I could have died.”

M’Niras frowned. “look, I understand you rejected a symbiont and left Trill before, but this one was an highly ranked Trill Ambassador. She died they were trying to save her and the 500 years of memories and knowledge. BY ALL RIGHTS!”

Mira’s voice raised just as loud. “That’s right, MY rights! I told them no, 5 different times and demanded security.” Seeing this argument would keep going until hell froze over, she told him. “I already have a symbiont. They would have removed mine, saying the other symbiont had more importance. Rodale would have died and I probably would have, too. You can’t remove one symbiont that is bonded to a Trill then shove a another injured symbiont into a traumatized host.

“Why didn’t you just say so?”

“Von!” Mira yelled.

M’Niras growled, then he nodded his head in understanding. “I’ll handle it.”

“You can not use this information. No one can know. I swear, M’Niras, if you betray me…..”

Mira had just been about to threaten him but he held out his hand. “I will not. What about this Entity, Six-Zed-Zero?”

Mira shrugged. “I handed that mess over to Doctor K’ner.”

Korra saw an alert and snapped her fingers, drawing K’ner’s attention. “Someone is checking your records. Actually, they’re searching for a Doctor K’ner on the ‘Norris. Should I shadow your file?”

K’ner shook her head. “No, the doctor part will narrow it down for them. Only so many K’ners in medical on this ship, plus what they can find on the station records.”

Korra gafuffled, her laughter quiet. It didn’t take long for someone to make the connection to K’ner as the personal name, and Betaras as her family name. “They found Lt Betaras, assigned CMO on the ‘Norris. I carefully backtracked. It’s coming out of a political office, Ambassadorial. One guess…”

K’ner sighed. “M’Niras… wonder what he wants… I’m guessing we’ll find out soon enough. He was just on the ship, the holosuite…” She did her own search, one dot in her HUD pinging. “He’s still there, so he’ll likely stop by on his way out and let us know his directives.”

“Hmmm… should I make it easy on him and head for my office?” K’ner looked around at their snickers. They all had the 411 on the infamous dignitary, and no one would intentionally do him any favors if they could help it. “Anyone up for some exercise with Lt Tela in the cargo gym?”

Hoots and hollers followed those assembled as they made the run to the Jeffries tube. Alorn’s report scrolled on her HUD as they hustled along… ‘Interesting,’ she thought. He had access to all the information so she was curious if he’d seen or heard something she hadn’t heard about yet. She waved the others on as she changed course.

Mira rubbed her forehead with her middle finger. M’Niras was being his normal annoying self. “No. I did not kidnap an alien Entity. It was a stowaway.“ She waved her hand as if she was brushing off his comment. “It was asking for help.“ She gave a little huff as she sat down on the holobay grass next to her daughter, who was trying to crawl. She leaned down and kissed her cheek. “Hi there, little one.“

Mira was rewarded with a grin.

M’Niras frowned. “It asked for you to take it off the planet?”

Mira raised an eyebrow. “It escaped with us. Don’t you have something more important to look into, like Who set the bomb off, or who tried to kidnap my ward?” Mira looked over at the little girl playing with Venus.

Both incidents are being looked at.” He told her as he watched Shan’nara playing.

Mira nodded “then we will not keep you any longer.”
Mira turned her attention to Ashla.

M’Niras frowned “when are you meeting with Dralohk?”

Mira laid back on the grass looking up at the fake sky. It really did look real she thought but she answered with a sigh. Clearly the man wasn’t going to give up. “I don’t know. If that’s the only reason you’re here just go.”

Kolar squealed happily. He was running to their doctor and jumped into her arms as if he did that everyday. “The 5th Element is safe with mama.”

The doctor nodded, whispering something that led to another squeal and a vigorous nodding of his head.

Mira laughed wondering what those two were up to. Her eyes went back to M’Niras he was standing there with his arms folded over his chest stubbornly.

Mira briefly wondered if she could plan out an incident on the base that would need his personal attention but quickly remembered one had happened already. “Ambassador Dalar Lugir. You wouldn’t be hiding here from him?”

M’Niras laugh was dry and humorless “I am working out a plan to deal with him. His wife’s symbiont has found a new host. Male and not someone Dalar can control. That should be an interesting problem. How much of the symbiont transfer to the new host?”

Mira shrugged a delicate shoulder “it depends on a lot of things. If the new host is strong willed then he will have all the memories of the past hosts but can retain what he is. He will feel what the last host felt for someone but he can walk away and make a new life. If he is weak willed then the symbiont is more dominant like with Von.” She told him softly. Her older brother was a sore spot for her.

M’Niras nodded “the new host is a Starfleet Commander. Good man.“

“Then while he is adjusting to the symbiont, Ambassador Dalar Lugir should be kept away from him. It’s a hard adjustment time. He should stay on his ship and with people he trust until he has adjusted. After that he will decide if he wishes to remain as an Commander or move on to being an ambassador.” Mira told him.

M’Niras nodded “ah yes and about your doctor.”

“no, M’Niras whatever else you want or need just No. It’s my time with my children. No more interrogations from you.” And she had yet to figure out why Kevin hadn’t showed up like he had promised.

“There is a Captain’s meeting tomorrow. Will you be attending?” M’Niras asked.

“Only if that fake Federation star fleet captain isn’t there.”

M’Niras frowned “She was given the rank of captain.”

Mira laughed “ if she didn’t attend the academy and didn’t work her way up into the position of captain then its just a joke. Karrelsdotter should have remained on her planet or gone to the academy to learn things like when you meet someone from a new planet you don’t pull there hair to see if they are real. She is going to do that to the wrong person and start a war. Either send her to the academy or send her home. I am not dealing with her.“

Mira picked up Ashla and walked away clearly done with M’Nira.

Across the playground’s basin, near a pool of water, K’ner was fitting Kolar with a helmet that looked more like a fish bowl on his head.

“Now remember what I said. Relax. Don’t touch anything. We’re here to study.” She switched tactics as his eyes rolled up. “You need to know your opponent’s environment if you wish to truly understand them. To know the tools and opportunities when they are available to you.”

Kolar nodded seriously, making the adjustments more difficult but K’ner just persisted until she got the seal she was looking for. “Once you are a master of this realm, we shall move on to another, yes?”

“YES!” Kolar stood a bit awkwardly stiff, then relaxed as K’ner poked him in the ribs. ‘We need to work on his stealth skills,’ she thought as she herded him to the water.

The water got deeper quickly, bringing the surface of the water to head height quickly. Nodding at Kolar, K’ner touched a valve on the ring of the helmet and Kolar began to sink.

While K’ner was prepared for panic, she was pleased it was unnecessary. She’d programmed plenty of diversity and a rather dense bio-sphere, so there was plenty to hold his attention. He was mostly compliant with the ‘no touch’ rule, but overall he didn’t touch anything that would cause pain, nor disturb the wildlife in its habitats.

He seemed to prefer to float, sometimes inverted, looking at things upside down, but that also allowed him to dip into crevices in the underwater terrain that only his head would fit, and get a peek at whatever was hiding there as he tried to control his breathing which let him go up and down in the water column.

It took a while for him to realize that talking did him no good, he was the only one that heard himself. He would then have to remember the sign for some of the things he saw, and ask what the others were as they floated along.

It didn’t seem long to Kolar, but K’ner watched the counter that had started when they first got wet and they soon began to ascend, just peeking out across the surface at the others on the playground. They bobbed along like buoys, watching everyone from their tactical position as Kolar had dubbed it. When Mira eventually looked around for her missing child, Kolar stealthfully waved his arms, shouting mutely to get her attention.

K’ner’s earlier thought about working on his discipline and calmness under fire might be a bit more of a difficult challenge she figured. . .
