“Mira, I can’t believe your not running down to the cargo bay to find out what you got!” Zimia told her; confused as she followed Mira to the holobay.
Mira adjusted Ashla on her hip as she held Kolar’s hand. “But Kolar wanted to play.” She rolled her eyes. “fine, we can stop by the cargo bay then to the holo.”
Kolar frowned.
“Oh hun, it will only take a moment and if I don’t, you aunt Zimia's head will explode out of curiosity. “Mira laughed. “Not really explode but…..” seeing the look on her sons face, she thought she better not tease so much. Kids don't always realize you’re serious or not.
Kolar watched Zimia to see if it was true. “can I be the pilot?” he asked her.
Mira nodded. “Sure and I’ll be Captain.”
“But I want to be Captain.” He came back with, quickly as the walked into the cargo bay.
“Wait you want to be Captain and the pilot? What am I supposed to do then, bring you a drink?” Mira asked him.
“No Zimia, does that.” Kolar told her looking very proud of himself.
Zimia Laughed. “Yeah, you can take my job! That’s it.” She pointed to the large container.
Mira handed Ashla over to Zimia and placed her thumb on the lock.
A voice recording started to play.
“May you live long and prosper, Captain Mira Rodale. I had wondered what to get a Trill who has everything she wants in her life. As you know my hobby is art. I must say that our sessions had put the lives you have led in my thoughts lately. My way of working things out is my art. It only seemed logical that you have these as pleasant memories of your time in the Matrix.”
Mira raised an eyebrow. “Pleasant memories?” she hadn’t thought most of her time there as pleasant. Her breath caught. “By all that was holy, they’re painting of me and my family.”
Mira started to pull them out. “Kolar, it’s you and me on that horse you loved.” Mira laughed, delighted. But when she got to the one in England, her legs gave out and she sat abruptly on the deck floor. There was a painting of her sitting in a chair next to Kevin, Kolar on his lap and two twin little redheads in her lap.
“See mama, Jason and Ashla.” Kolar told her, looking so happy. She had to blink back tears. Her family, all of them together. “By all that is holy.” Mira whispered.
“We don’t have room for all of these in your quarters.” Zimia told her, looking over all the paintings. “we could scan them and put them in storage.” She made a suggestion.
Mira nodded thinking scanning the paintings was a good idea. “Yes, maybe I’ll asked Thor to bring them to earth.”
“Wow was this you as a Delazari?” Zimia asked.
Moving to see what painting she was looking at, Mira laughed. “Yeah, that black hair and eyeliner really changed the way I looked.”
Zimia nodded picking up another one and she smiled. “Oh, look this one is beautiful.”
It was a painting of Kevin as a Viking lord, she was standing in front of him with his hands on her rounded belly. They were outside of the long house overlooking the land. The wind looked like it had caught her hair and snow was falling. “This is truly amazing.”
“They certainly are.” The deep, purring voice made her squeak.
Mira spun around angry. “What the hell are you doing here?”
M’Niras laughed. “Ambassadorial privileges. Besides, When your 2nd office explained you need to avoid problems on the base, I thought it best I come see you.”
Mira raised her eyebrow at Montgomery. “Did I not tell you how much I hate Caitian surprises?”
Montgomery nodded, “on many occasions, Captain.”
Mira frowned but gave him a nod then her eyes went back to M’Niras. “Why are you here?”
M’Niras moved around her, picking up the painting of her with the twins. “Who is this?”
Kolar perked up at the question . “My brother Jason. Mama, we go play in the holobay now?”
M’Niras smiled. “I would love to go with you to your holobay and we should talk about your children. ALL of them.”
Mira narrowed her eyes at him inviting himself with them, but she turned to start putting the paintings away. “Zimia, have someone Scan these, please.”
She took Kolar and Shan’nara’s hands. “Ok kids, time to play.”
{Holobay, USS Chuck Norris}
When the doors opened to the holobay, it looked like they had walked into the shuttle bay and a shuttle was waiting on them.
Mira walked Kolar to the pilot chair and let him climb in. She nudged Shan’nara into the co-pilot chair. Then took Ashla from Zimia as they both set down.
M'Niras frowned but took a seat. “I thought we were going to the holobay? Why is he flying?”
Mira shrugged. “Don’t make him nervous.” She nodded to Kolar for him to begin. The computer would do everything but Kolar and M’Niras didn’t need to know that.
“Is dada coming to? He asked her with a frown. “He said he would come and play with me.”
Mira nodded. “I am sure he will, hun. He might even be down there already, since we stopped at the cargo bay. Remember, Uncle Awal is coming too with his family.”
Kolar nodded with a smile, but frowned slightly at the big cat man. Mama didn’t seem to like him much so he didn’t either. He turned around and tapped on the console just like dada had showed him. “Ready?” he asked with a grin.
“Ready.” Mira told him then the feeling of falling took over. Ashla squealed happily. Shan’nara didn’t look all that happy as she looked back at Mira to see if this was all normal.
Mira totally missed M’Niras’ claws digging into the seat.
“Mama, where too?” Kolar asked.
“Out of the planet’s you see, what one would you want to visit?” Mira asked him.
“The blue and green one?” he told her, a little unsure.
She gave a nod. “And why would we want to be on a blue and green planet?” Mira asked smiling.
“It means life and we can breathe?” he replied at what she had told him before.
“That’s right. Just pick a spot and set us down.” Mira told him as she played patty cake with Ashla.
It wasn’t long before Kolar had landed and the doors opened to a beautiful playground.
Awal waved. “We had thought you had gotten lost.”
Kolar took off running to join him and Venus.
“This whole thing is a holo problem.” M’Niras stated, stoically.
Mira smirked but didn’t look at him. Her eyes were on Shan’nara.
“This looks like baby stuff.” The little girl told her.
“This is important physical discipline that we teach our children and make them think it’s for fun.” Mira told her.
Shan’nara wasn’t sure about that.
Mira handed Ashla to Zimia “Well, if your not interested in training your body. I am.” She told Shan’nara as she pulled her sweater off over her head and dropped it, leaving her clad in leggings and a tank top.
Mira moved to a hanging bar Taking ahold of it, she swung around it lifting her legs over her head looking as if she was weightless. It had taken a lot of training and conditioning to let her perform the movements she was doing.
Shan’nara frowned but moved closer to see how she was doing that.
It wasn’t long before Awal had the children playing a Klingon game Mira had seen a few times. A large loop was rolled across the ground and children would see how many spears they could get though the opening. It was a very good eye hand coordination exercise for them and they learned to hunt.
Seeing the kids were occupied, she went looking for M’Niras. He was sitting watching the kids play. There was really no telling what was going through his mind. With a mental frown, she decided it was better to just hear what the manipulating old fool had planned and see just how she was going to get out of it. Because, by all that was holy, she wasn’t getting involved in anymore of his manipulating schemes.
Picking up her sweater, she slipped it on as she walked. She then sat down on the lounge chair next to his.
“Why are you here M’Niras?” Mira asked with a sigh.
He gave a little shrug. “You are about as close to my child as I am going to get, and that would make your children my grandkids.”
Mira cringed at the very thought of him wanting to be involved in her life, let alone her children’s lives. He had been a very hard and uncaring guardian as she grew up. At least, at the time, it had felt that way to her. Klingons and Caitians customs and traditions forced their children to grow up quickly and they were physically and mentally older. Mira didn’t consider herself to be Klingon or Caitian, people just liked to think she was. Her ex-mate had wanted her to learn to protect herself and had started her training for her to become a fitting warrior for his house. While M’Niras wanted her to learn to survive in any situation, so he forced her into situations that she had to survive or she died. As a child; of course, she had thought he was always thinking of ways to get her killed, maybe he was. She learned to eat the food placed before her whether she liked it or not. Food was needed to stay alive and it didn’t need to be enjoyed.
Her time on Risa had taught her there could be fun and enjoyment in life, but you couldn’t trust everyone. People lied to get what they wanted from you. With all of that, Mira had learned patience.
Her hands went to her braids, undoing them. It was her uncle Thor’s tradition that once married, woman wore their hair in braids. She had found she liked them. It kept her curls under control and out of her face. But, it also was something the Odin-jerks did. She didn’t want to look like them at all, even if she had to reject her uncles beliefs and customs.
“Five children, I am surprised for a woman who swore she would have none.” M’Niras stated his comment with his eyes still on the kids.
Mira frowned as she ran her fingers through her hair. “No I have 3. Well, maybe 4 if Jason was real.” She added softly. Still wondering about the possibilities.
“Kolar, Ashla, Shan’nara maybe Jason and Thyra.”
“No, by Fek’lhr’s beard, there is no way in Gre’thor would I ever consider that woman’s kid as mine. Thyra has a mother and its not me. I am not dealing with it.” Mira had to take a breath to calm down and stop talking before she said something she would regret.
M’Niras nodded. “True, but she might just be one of many of Kevin’s offspring he has floating around the galaxy. After reading the reports on the Matrix there could many.”
Mira rubbed the spot on her chest over her heart. It still hurt to know Kevin had chosen to be with other women while they were held prisoner. “You, yourself said that no one could be held responsible for what that race put us through in the Matrix.”
He nodded. “What I don’t understand is how this Thyra came to be? All of the envoys sent on a diplomatic mission are given medical Intervention to ensure a situation like an unplanned child doesn’t happen. So the woman had to have given something to him that counteracted the birth control.”
Mira frowned, she had been thinking along that line as well. Or that Kevin had the birth control removed and was trying to have a family with one of the Odin-jerks. She shivered, pulling her mind away from Kevin being in a relationship with someone else. “Whatever happened, I don’t want to be Involved.”
M’Niras chucked. “If that kid is Kevin’s, you will not have a choice. Of course, the way the Odinskus sleep around, it could be any other man’s kid. Still, you’re needed to work with the Odinskus.”
“There is no way in Gre’thor that you are forcing me to work with the Odinskus. They have no business being in control of a Federation ship or going on any Federation mission. If they need someone to hold their hands, then you need to send them to the academy and that fake commission you gave Karrelsdottper is a joke. Perhaps she has power on her world, but out here is a different story. She is an ignorant jerk that shouldn’t have control of star fleet officers lives. I am not fixing one of star fleets moronic Decisions. Send them home. They never should have left their home world with their odd culture and backward beliefs. In one evening, they have disgraced themselves and made enemies of the Klingon empire. The stupid woman is so stuck on her power, she only said that she didn’t care. Their blood wine was bad? No loss to her.”
Mira rolled her eyes, twisting her hair up into a messy bun. “One Klingon ship could destroy her whole world or save their worthless lives. All those idiots are going to do is start a war or get that ship destroyed because they are too stupid to handle the power you dropped on them.” Angrily, she stood up and moved to one of the punching bags sending a series of punches to let her frustration out. Of course she hadn’t put the gloves on, so her knuckles started to bleed. Right now, she welcomed the pain. It was a good distraction.

K'ner hummed slightly to herself as she exchanged glances between the display and the patient. It was generally easier for her to just watch the readout in her HUD but she'd found it comforted the patient somewhat to see her attentive to the data on the larger display on the wall.
"Doesn't seem to be improving. Have you been adhering to the diet we proscribed? And no extraneous exertion?" She let her gaze move back to M'od.
The glutonous bulges of skin wiggled as K'ner guessed that was a nod in the affirmative. "Then let's adjust that a bit." She made some notes to transmit to their quarters, and that of the replicator system when they next ordered meals.
K'ner poked a bit more, eliciting a giggle, or a sound effect in that quality from M'od as she touched something sensitive.
"You... here... two days. Good?"
M'od jiggle-nodded again.
K'ner marked that down. "Make sure to avoid UV-intensive areas for now until we ascertain what prolonged wavelengths may be precipitating the condition, alright?"
Again, the jiggle, then a shift of mass as M'od rose to a vertical posture, got foot-like pods below to the floor, then shifted/slid forward slightly to adjust the structure and move out. A few squeaks and burps accentuated the odd gait, but soon enough the door closed behind and the bay was quiet again.
K'ner turned to Billingsly. "Anything seem odd to you?"
She nodded. "Yes, like last time. No change... at all. I reviewed the replicator logs and M'od has been adhering to the diet we loaded, but we should see something, even if someone was slipping them some contraband. That was enough for me to make sure you could do this next exam."
K'ner pursed her lips as she continued to review data, this time not glancing up at the display as the lead nurse was doing.
"Definitely curious. I don't want to add to M'od's stress, but see what you can do about keeping an eye out for stressors, or lack thereof, changes in environment, that kind of thing. M'od didn't leave the ship since we've docked, so it shouldn't be anything on the station unless someone brought back a bug and due to previous issues, we've taken to doing rather in-depth scans on the walkway over whenever someone leaves or enters."
With a nod the PA jotted down her own notes and headed off to the other room off the bay for cleaning supplies...
