Mission: The days of our lives
Location: Earth
Timeline: Present

On:
{Hvalset Fjord, Greenland, Guests housing}

When Mira got into the bathroom, she frown. Ok, no shower and no tub. What the crap? She opened the only other door in the room and saw stairs going down. might as well see where this goes, she thought.

Getting to the bottom, she found a beautiful hot tub carved out of rock. On the other side of the room was a shower and shelving with towels and soap.

“Nice” Mira grinned. She would take a quick shower then soak in the hot tub. There was a bachelor party going on in one of the other buildings. But, honestly, she was partied out. She also wasn’t a bachelor and told them so. But, they were just using it as an excuse to party.

The last few weeks of hitting the bars and starting as much trouble as she could while heading to Earth had taken its toll on her.

She really hoped that she had made her point and nothing like that would happen again. If it did, well, she would have to make it even more obvious that you don’t cross the line with her again.

She dumped her dirty clothes in the hamper and stepped into the spray of water as she thought about her hunting trip. Clearly, it had been set up as a guys bachelor party. First hunting, now drinking. She didn’t think it was Kevin’s thing and he probably would have hated the hunt.

Odin had wanted to go over the wedding plans, but that only made her say a lot of ‘NO's’ to him. One was a woman wasn’t capable of walking herself down to the alter and someone had to give her away?

Her point she had told him was she didn’t belong to anyone so no one had the right to give her away. The only way of getting him to back down was she was having Kolar walk her. He was going to be her man of honor after all.

Mira slipped into the hot springs.

The wedding license came in. What was odd about that was it had been dated as they got married just before going into the Matrix. Mira frowned wondering what had happened with that and who had made that happen. Kevin and her had just talked about getting rings at that time. That would also change her first challenger to an honor fight. First blood. If she lost, he couldn’t take Rasmehlier house but she had no plans of losing. There might also be questions on why she just hadn’t said she was married already. It would also give Kevin the right to make a marriage deal for their son.

She nodded thinking, yeah someone who had wanted that deal to happen had to have done it. But who? Admiral Desai? Probably, because who else would have the power and would have benefited from it.

Next subject that bugged her was Odin said she had to have a baby in the first year of marriage. Some stupid Viking rule about it being a successful marriage. She brought up the fact they had two kids. Well, 3 she guessed with Shan'nara. Then he had tossed out that they didn’t really count because she hadn’t birthed Kolar or Shan’nara and how did she know that she had given birth to Ashla. She had done the only reasonable thing she could think of at the time and punched him.

She had been married to Kevin at the time in Matrix and one of the times had been a Viking marriage, Ashla darn well better count. She gave a sigh, now thinking she should have just shot Odin with her arrow for aggravating her.

Shaking her head, she got out of the hot tub to dry off and get ready for the wedding, wondering if Kevin would make it in time and who else was going to show up. She hadn’t made it an order. It was, after all, everyone’s free time to have R&R. She hoped everyone used their time wisely because who knew when they would make it back to Earth again.

Thinking of the crew, she smirked wondering who had won the lottery on the time of her marriage?

Mira came out of her room dressed in the white leather, silk, and fur. She grinned at Kolar. Seemed his nap was over and they had dressed him up like a little Viking. His blonde little curls had all been braided close to his head and he had a wooden sword on his hip and one in his hand. “Mama! You look beautiful. I am a Viking now!”

Mira laughed “I see that. You look so handsome.” Her eyes went to Zimia’s then she asked. “any word?”

Zimia shook her head no.

Mira sighed there was no way she could just sit here and wait. She was too nervous and would go nuts. Raising an eyebrow at Kolar she got an idea “do you know how to use that?” he shook his head no. “want mama to show you?” His grin was huge so she took his hand to go out back of the guest longhouse.

“OOH Mira not in your wedding dress!” Zimia told her.

Mira shrugged as she put a fur cloak on her and one on her son. “It will be fine.” As they left Mira waved to a few kids playing.

(Long hall)

After Awal beamed himself, Dianna and Venus down to Hvalset Fjord, Greenland, they went to the Long hall to relax and have a bite to eat before going to find Mira and Kevin.

{Outside Hvalset Fjord}

As the shuttle descended to the landing pad outside of Hvalset Fjord, Kevin was feeling better that he had in months. It was as if he had awaken from a long, restful night invigorated to face the new day rather than being awake for the previous thirty hours. The headache and dehydration that had plagued him during their visit to the Nippon Culture Center were miraculously gone and he felt like he could face down anything that Mira’s adoptive relatives might throw at him. The stimulants that Shen had shared with him were certainly working.

Hvalset Fjord was a modern settlement with all of the conveniences that one would come to expect from the homeworld of a founding race of the Federation, but the style and façade of the buildings was in a more traditional fashion. Wood and stone structures dominated the landscape and the entire village was surround by a wooden palisade that lacked any predator to keep out. Polar Bears never roamed this far south and Greenland’s icy landscape discouraged the habitation of wolfs and other large carnivores.

During their approach, Kevin had spotted the stavkirke were he assumed that the wedding ceremony would take place, the great hall where the newlyweds would be feasted, and a florally decorated hut that could only be where Thor intended Mira and Kevin to consummate their union. As if, with two children, any additional consummation was necessary.

“Looks like were still have a few hours until the ceremony,” Shen commented as he consulted his PADD while the two walked through the Viking village, “If I had known that, I would have taken us to windsurf off the North Shore.” He glanced back in the direction of the shuttle pad.

“Thor isn’t going to let us leave now that we are here,” Kevin pointed out as he correctly interpreted Shen’s action.

“Hmmm,” Shen answered thoughtfully, “We missed the boar hunt but there is a pre-ceremony celebration going on at the Mead Hall.”

“Haven’t we drunk enough?” Kevin asked.

Shen smiled indulgently at his pal. “Seventeen,” he chided, “There is no quality of alcohol that is ever enough.”

Kevin shook his head. Shen was incorrigible. “I am feeling so much better and don’t want to get drunk again before the ceremony.”

“Not a concern,” Shen said with a wave of his hand, “The battle stimulant increases your metabolism to the point where it is impossible to even get a good buzz going. We are liable to drink everyone under the table.”

“Really,” Kevin replied, stroking his chin thoughtfully.

“Yep,” Shen continued, “Turns everything you consume into instant energy. Which is why it is so dangerous. Without external inputs, the body starts to consume itself. But a big beefy guy like yourself doesn’t have to worry about a single dose…much.”

Kevin realized that his stomach was grumbling and he felt like he hadn’t eaten in a week. He could get something from the kitchens and avoid the Mead Hall, but he reflected on Shen’s confession after the tea ceremony. His window to live his life the way he wanted was closing and he might never get another chance to party like a Viking lord. “Then what do you say to showing our hosts how we celebrated the ’78 Thrusterball Championship?”

Shen smiled wolfishly, “I thought you would never ask!”

{Mead Hall}

“I can’t believe the groom hasn’t showed up yet . I’d marry that girl in a heartbeat. Did that wee jente really bring down this hog?” Loki stroked his beard with one hand as the other spun the wheel to turn the huge hog as it roasted.

“Aye she did. For a moment there I thought she was going to get stamped on but she jumped a tree and sent her arrow true. It was glorious. When Odin asked if she wanted to prove her strength by carrying the beast back she threatened him with an arrow.” Both men laughed. “Aye she is as fiery as her hair.” Bjorn laughed “ I should have tried harder to get her to dance with me the last time she was here. Sadly she wouldn’t partake in the Bachelors party but she did give us permission to party for her.” He downed his drink.
“So where is she now?”

“Oh she is playing wood swords with the younglings.” Bjorn laughed “what a vision she is to. Like the Goddess has blessed us with her presence. “

“in her wedding dress? “

“Aye the groom hasn’t showed up yet so she said she wasn’t done having fun and sent Thor away saying the party must continue.”

{Behind the guest quarters}

The kronnelti’s showed up to the sound of children laughing and Mira’s little squeal as she almost fell off a rock. “tis not fair I am not use to fighting in these clothes. I am at a disadvantage.” She raised her eyebrow at one of the boys laughing.

Mira chuckled as she adjusted her Viking wedding crown. She picked one that reflect strength and her connection to nature. It symbolized protection and unity with the wild. It looked like many little horns but made of bronze to her it was small and one of the few that didn’t look outlandish , her hair was braided since she had been mated before but hung long down her back almost to her hips again.

Sister Awal greeted her, look at you

Mira turned quickly “There you are! You missed the hunt.” She turned back to the kids “all right I have to be an adult now. You all run off and play. “

She took Kolar's hand as she walked towards them.

“Doesn’t mama look like a princess?” Kolar asked.

Mira shook her head checking to see if she had gotten dirty. What had been planned as a quick lesson for Kolar had turned in to all out war! It had been a blast. “has Kevin showed up yet?” She asked Awal not sure she could put off the ceremony any longer.

I have not seen Kevin yet, we came to see you first sister.

I have not seen Kevin yet, we came to see you first sister.

Mira bit her lip either Kevin’s friend hadn’t gotten him back yet or…. He was getting cold feet. It was making her nervous. “Ok well midnight is almost here.” It couldn’t be any later then this so the ceremony had to be now.

Listening from the sidelines, K'ner figured she'd let her find out on her return to the settlement, hoping the XO wouldn't over-indulge in the pre-celebration. He wouldn't be held back at all by the rest of those present but the taciturn commander had always shown some restraint, so perhaps this would be the case as well.

K'ner relaxed nearby, looking on as Mira had instructed, then conducted, the mini-battle. The children were all exuberant and burned off much of their excess energy... for now. The clothing of the period felt comfortable, K'ner having adopted that same outfit and gear she'd worn in the matrix segment. 'Now,' she thought solemnly, 'if our wolves had made it out as well, it would be quite the phenomenal day.' She found she missed that life now and then.

The team had all checked in, maintaining a web of observation and monitoring. No one would interrupt, at least until after the ceremonies, and woe be it to anyone afterwards. K'ner was looking forward to the 'Norris arriving and things getting back to normal. Well, their version of it anyway. . . The universe never settled for long, always moving, changing, expanding...

She checked Kolar over. He was a little messy but nobody would really notice. Just then she heard the music playing. It was time? Was he really here or was one of the Vikings messing around?

“Better find your seats brother looks like I am getting married.”

{Hvalset Fjord, Mead Hall}

The double doors of the mead hall burst open, admitting a chilly breeze that pushed against the warmth generated by the multiple burning pyres of wood and roasting meating being turned on spits by well-muscled youths. The volume in the hall dropped precipitously as most eyes turned in the direction of the interruption. Shen, all swagger, inappropriate volume and dressed in a large fur cape, stepped through the opening followed by Kevin. “Be of great cheer, my lord of Hvalset Fjord! For I have brought the groom!”

Those in the hall stared at the blue skinned alien. They had undoubtedly seen Andorian’s before but their attitude at the intruder ranged from surprised curiosity to murderous intent. Shen ignored them all as he marched along the tables arrayed on either side of the cooking fires like he was Jarl of them all. Kevin followed, trying to project his classmate’s presence and confidence.

Shen marched up to Thor, spying the large tankard in an equally sizable fist, and clapped him on the back. “Tell me that thing’s full of mead and not rainwater, because we came to earn our horns.”

A beat passed. Then, a low chuckle rumbled from Thor’s chest, spreading down the line of revelers like fire catching dry pine. Someone passed Shen a drinking horn. Someone else passed one to Kevin.

“Skål!” Shen shouted.

“Skål!” the crowd echoed, loudly this time.

Kevin shook his head in smiling disbelief before taking a drink from the horn. It was uncanny. Shen could charm his way into a seat on the Ferengi Council with the mere mention of gold-pressed latinum.
