The days of our lives
Location: Base station one
Timeline: Present

{Distinguished Visiting Officer’s Quarters}
Showered and in a fresh set of black leggings and tank top, Mira was just about to fall asleep in Kevin’s arms as he re-watched that fighting vid. He seemed determined to find a weakness in his fighting style.
“Mama, you still here!” Kolar said happily.
Mira was able to grab his flying body and sit up with a laugh. “Yes, I told you I would be. Is Ashla still sleeping?”
He shook his head no, setting his blonde curls bouncing. “I get my surprise? What is it?”
Mira grinned. “Holodeck? How would you like to see the house I was born in?”
Kolar frowned.
Mira didn’t let that stop her. “My father was an amazing engineer and he built our home half in a mountain and half out of it. Our front yard was the beach with beautiful purple water and he built a rock climbing stairway up the mountain. We even had a pool inside the house. It was a fun, magical place to live in and we had a pool out of the house too.”
Kolar’s eyes widened. “I can run around and play?”
Mira nodded. “Of course. We will bring food to have a meal. Play in the water, climb the rocks, and there is a slide from my bedroom all the way down to the pool.” She gave him a grin. “I’ll send a message to Awal and the crew to see if they want some down time. There was a amazing obstacle course I know the haz team would love.” It would also be a good place to work out there next plans on what to do, Mira thought.
Kevin had gone to get Ashla and give her a bottle.
She gave him a smile, then turned to Kolar. “Ok what food are we having for dinner?”
“pizza! And….” He was thinking really hard. “chicken wings and ice cream!” Kolar laughed
Mira nodded. “Sounds good.” She sent off messages to the crew that they would regroup in the holodeck in an hour.

Mira grinned as her commbadge went off with multiple “WOO HOOs!”
She sent back, “bathing suits and work out gear will be needed.”
Then she sent another message to a restaurant 15 pizzas, 100 wings, 4 gallons ice cream, 3 cases of beer and a few gallons of tea to be delivered to the holodeck B11. She changed Kolar into swimming trunks and a shirt. Then, she changed into an modest bathing suit that looked like a tank top and bikini bottoms in blue. She slipped on a summer cotton dress as a beach cover up and the sole protectors she found on Risa, it adhered to the bottom of her feet. “Ready?”
Kolar jumped up and down. “Yes, we jump in the water and have fun!”
Kevin had packed a bag for Ashla. “Anything we forgot we can get in the replicators.”
{Holodeck B11}
The double doors opened up to a beautiful beach with purple water on one side and a tropical forest on the other. A short walk opened it up to a pretty beach home built into a mountain. There was a pool out front, a few round tables on the porch. Along side the house was hand holds to climb up the mountain. “Computer, add two sets of protective climbing equipment.” They had not been needed before, but with Kolar here he would need them.
She slipped off her dress, laying it over a chair then strapped Kolar and herself up. “Now, watch mama.” Mira climbed up as if she was defying gravity then smacked the bell at the top. She grinned down at Kolar. “You can’t fall, see.” She let go just swinging from the harness. “Then you push this.” It was a lever and slowly she descended. “Ok, let’s see you ring that bell.”
Mira laughed as he tried to figure where to put his feet and hands, then she looked up at Kevin. “This is where I lived on Trill until I was seven. That pool goes under that wall and into the house. In the original plans, it had a door to close it off for security reasons but in a holodeck… “ She gave a little shrug. “I didn’t add it.” Kolar was half way up the wall. Mira unhooked herself and followed Kevin into the house to show him around. It truly was a beautiful place. She didn’t have parents to bring him home to meet but she could share this with him.
“Computer add baby’s playpen.” When it appeared she pulled it into a shady spot under the porch.
Zimia came out with a smile and three beers handing one to Kevin as he laid Ashla down. “food is all here not sure you got enough beer and should of added bloodwine. I couldn’t find the whiskey.”
Mira grinned “I didn’t order any but maybe you should order more beer and bloodwine.”
Kevin grinned “So this was home?”
Mira nodded, “I loved it here.”
Zimia smiled “maybe you should see who owns it now and buy it from them?”
Mira shook her head no. “it’s not there anymore.” Mira dove in the water before anyone asked anything else. The water might not be real water from Trill but her body loved it.
Kolar had hit the bell then came down. He got out of his gear and came running to the pool jumping in after her with a laugh.
{On the Beach}
Savory smelling smoke wafted gently from the meat searing on the barbeque grill as Kevin turned steaks over with grilling tongs. He was dressed in board shorts and a Hawai’ian shirt with a large apron emblazoned with the phrase “Kiss the Chef”. The meat sizzled as he adjusted the broad-brimmed Panamanian hat and took a pull from the beer bottle that he held in his free hand. After months of constant stress with the covert mission and chasing Mira, he was enjoying the simple pleasure of grilling meat on a beach on a gorgeous day.
His thoughts were interrupted by a male voice. “Where can I get one of those, Commander?” the man asked.
Kevin pulled his eyes away from the purple surf rolling onto the beach and adjusted his vision to see Nod, one of K’ner haz team members looking between Kevin and the bottle that he held. Kevin pointed his tongs to a cooler under a Trill-version of a palm tree. “Help yourself,” he offered.
Nod retrieved a bottle for himself. “I didn’t know that you could cook,” he said as he opened the bottle.
“I don’t,” Kevin shrugged, “Not really. But with the safety protocols engaged, there is no chance of failure.”
“Didn’t the Captain order enough food for everyone?” Nod asked.
“Yes,” Kevin admitted as he tended to a grouping on chicken breasts, “but I thought that there should be something more substantial than just pizza and ice cream.” He gestured to a nearby table with corn on the cob, potato salad, green beans, macaroni and cheese, cornbread and fruit salad.
“Smells really good,” Nod said ask he inhaled deeply through his nostrils.
“Like the beach, it is all illusion,” Kevin replied, “The meat is really tofu or some low calorie, high nutrition substitute. The beer is just water. It is the holodeck that is fooling our senses into thinking its real.”
Nod knitted his eyebrow in concentration then decided that it was just too much effort. He took another swig of beer. As long as it tasted like the real thing.
“Word is that you and the Captain are going to tie the knot,” Nod changed subjects, “When are you planning the ceremony?”
That didn’t take long, Kevin thought. “We haven’t set a date but soon.”
“Could you hold off for another three weeks?” Nod asked.
Kevin paused in tending to the meat on the barbeque grill. “Why?” he asked.
“There is a pool amongst the haz team,” Nod continued, “I win if you get married next month.”
Kevin stared at Nod incredulously. “Really?” he asked in sarcastic disbelief.
“Oh yeah,” Nod plowed ahead, oblivious to Kevin’s reaction, “The pot has been growing for a couple of years now.
Kevin was quiet for a moment then with a straight face he said, “We will take that into consideration.”
Nod smiled broadly and clapped Kevin on the shoulder, “Thanks, XO! I owe you one.” Then without another word he grabbed a second beer from the cooler and wandered off.
The computer chimed to Kevin that it was time to turn the meat again. As he was doing so, he decided that he needed to have a discussion with Lieutenant K’ner about her team members. Or maybe he would let Mira have that conversation.
{ Forest Obstacle Course }
The group on the beach heard a muted thump from the forest, then seconds later three of the Haz Team were running out of the cover, along the beach, then towards the mountainside climbing rack, yelling something to each other. The first hit the bottom, climbing upwards at almost the same speed. The second leaped short of reaching the bottom, effectively starting a little ways further up, bringing them abreast of the former leader.
Number three angled to the side, leaping as well, only higher, then carrying that on, leaping from hold to hold, passing the duo with a couple of feet to spare to roll over out of sight at the top, then a hand and arm reached back over to pull the next one up and over, and the final one. An indistinct yelling could be heard from atop the small ledge.
Back in the forest, K'ner watched her dots, as well as her visor view, nodding at the tests ending. The obstacle course had been s good as the Captain had subtly bragged. And the winner's bragging rights tended to rule for a while, until the next one changed the order, however little or much, they didn't care... the journey, the test, the next challenge, it all honed them, prepared them for whatever came next. They weren't special forces, but they had their own edge, their own commitment to training and developing their skills.
K'ner sent them a message to grab some snacks before the next round. Deena was probably ready to head back after that to spell Korra, who would undoubtedly be just as ready to get her foot in the next race.
As they spared a moment to enjoy the beach, K'ner sat back in the broad-leafed plants from Risa, reading reports as Korra relayed them from the ship.
Kolar had taken to the pool slide as had Venus. They would slide down and splash into the water and Mira would make sure they were able to get to the side then they would start all over again. She was happy when Awal joined them and took over tossing the kids around the pool. Mira dried off and wrapped a sarong around her hips as she joined Kevin by the grill. She gave a happy sigh of contentment as she wrapped her arms around him “This is just what I needed. A beautiful beach day.”
She looked to the food on the grill and table. He had cooked enough to feed the whole crew of the Norris. “Are you really serious about taking over the challenge?” She had been worried about it. He could train with K’ner team the whole time they traveled back to SB364 if he really wanted to. There was even a holobay to help with training as well, his bone structure and weight was far more of a match to the opponent then hers was but still she was worried. She supposed it was the same feeling he had when she fought.
"Very serious," Kevin replied as he moved steaks from the grill to a serving platter, "I've watched the recordings. Klvll is a brawler. I've handled his type before."
Mira bit her lip as she lowered her forehead to his back, her arms still wrapped around his waist. “Ok” she whispered. “Then we should get married tomorrow. We can ask my uncle to perform the ceremony. I don’t want it made common knowledge yet just incase someone tries to interfere. Once we are legally married. There is nothing they can do about it.” She let go of him taking the few steps to his side to look up at him. “so do you want a holodeck wedding or should we go to earth?” she gave him a smile.
With all of the meats removed from the grill, Kevin turned to Mira and slipped his arms around her. "The Haz Team already knows about our pending nuptials," he answered wryly, "but if we are wanting to keep it beyond sensor range for the rest of the galaxy, we should go to Earth. Maybe Thor could arrange something to resemble Faereyjar."
"Do you remember our time there?" Mira asked hopefully.
"No," Kevin frowned, "Again, everything that I know of our time there comes from the official reports you and the crew made. It sounded nice, though, and I would like to see it."
Mira quickly nodded her head in agreement. It was sad. They had taken vows in the Matrix a few times and each time had been beautiful. Since she was the only one that remembered them the Klingons wouldn’t except them as married. After getting back Kevin had acted so ……. Not going to bring all that up again she thought as she turned back to the crew “ok everyone food is ready. Let’s eat and we need to cover a few things before going to Earth.”
"WOO HOO!"
