Mission: Red Matters
Location: Romulan Space
Timeline: Current

[Bridge, Deck 1]

"Captain, we have crossed into Romulan space," Kevin announced.

"Very good, Helm," Mira replied looking up from the report that she had been reading on her PADD, "Tactical, be on alert for other vessels. The Romulans are expected to be friendly but not everyone may have gotten the message."

Kronnelti acknowledged the command from his post.

Ambassador Spock and the Jellyfish was still many light days behind them but even with the modification to the warp engines that their Chief Engineer had reluctantly made, the gap between the two ships was steadily shrinking. By Kevin's estimate, the Jellyfish would overtake the Chuck Norris and arrive in the Romulan home system at least an hour before they did.

"Captain," Ensign Chin call from the communications console, "We are being hailed."

"Onscreen," Mira directed.

A Romulan officer appeared on the screen. "Federation ship, this is the IRW Haakona. Identify yourselves," he ordered.

Mira raised an eyebrow. She had to walk a tight line when dealing with the Romulans. Look too weak and they tended to push you around. Come on too strong and then they got their panties in a twist.

"Captain Mira Rodale of USS Chuck Norris. We have orders to clear a path for Ambassador Spock and aid him in helping Romulus."

"Transmit your authorization code," the Romulan demanded. Mira gave a nod to Chin who busied himself with the task.

"What if they order us to heave-to?" Kevin asked, turning back to Mira, "We can ill afford to lose time by slowing down."

Mira raised an eyebrow it Kevin. With a small nod, she looked to see if the comm was still open. It was, looking back up at Kevin she gave a relaxed shrug.

"Then Romulan Imperial Senate, and the Praetor will be informed that the IRW Haakona has delayed us and is standing in the way of our mission to aid the Romulans."

She nodded to Chin, and he sent the message. Mira was handed a cup of Raktajino. She gave a grateful smile, taking it then took her time to take a sip before she asked.

"Shall we both wait here at a safe distance from your sun?" The man on the screen hadn't given his name, and she didn't care to ask.

The Romulan commander took no notice of the barb. He was intently focused on a conversation that he was having with someone on the monitor attached to his command chair.

Mira fought not to roll her eyes at the situation. She was told not to interfere. "Chin, has my friend in the Romulan Imperial Senate received my message?"

Chin nodded "Yes captain he is livid. A few of the curses I am not familiar with."

"Ambassador Rirahk can be very colorful when angered." Mira told him, holding her hand for a PADD to read it herself. Once she started reading, she smirked and did her best not to laugh.

"Your authorization code has been confirm," the Romulan commander on the screen stated in a most conciliatory tone, "I am Commander Nurrek. How may we be of assistance?"

"How can you assist me?" oh Mira so wanted to say something snarky like how about get out of my way!

" If I don't make my rendezvous with Ambassador Spock ....." Mira started to say only to be cut off by her 2nd officer.

Montgomery stepped up. "We have very little time left to meet with Ambassador Spock. Perhaps you can ensure we aren't stopped again?"

Mira took a deep breath, letting it out slowly. Yea, she didn't have time to yell. Perhaps the Romulans could be useful.

K'ner signed off on yet another report. "Paperwork!"

Jennus peaked around the door to her smallish office. "Trouble in paradise there Chief?"

K'ner looked up. "Now you're calling me chief too?"

"Well, you are the Chief Medical Officer..."

K'ner shook her head. Her Hazard Team folks were infiltrating everywhere... as usual.

"How are we looking out there?" She asked the medical yeoman.

"Ship-shape sir. We're ready for anything!" Jennus smiled one of her beaming smiles.

K'ner, ever the pessimist, looked up from the last report. "Anything eh?" She challenged.

Jennus nodded her head. "Oh yeah. Bring it on! We're on it!" Then she sobered greatly. "Well... not that I want anyone to get injured... or hurt... or scared... or..."

K'ner cut her off with a hand. "I get it. In theory, this should all be a cakewalk escort. The Romulans should be cooperating, but they have their own factions, as well as others in the multiverse who are averse to saving even a few of them. Everyone up on their Rommy biology?"

Jennus nodded again. "Yup. It's kind of interesting really. Did you know..." Her tone droned on, excited, yet turning into professor lecture mode.

K'ner leaned back, letting her go with it. She didn't get many in here who were this passionate, especially this far along in their career. She hoped it lasted a while longer...

""No Toc, no tell mama. I just want to fly for a little. I know how to get there." Kolar kept walking, checking to make sure no one saw him. He was supposed to be sleeping, but Zimia had fallen asleep first.

"Toc, go watch Ashla." Kolar told him. He was a big boy now and could fly the ship, so he should be able to fly in the secret spot Mama had shown him. He grinned as he found the right tube to climb into, but Toc kept following him. Maybe he wanted to fly, too? It was fun, he thought. If he could get there all by himself, maybe he could take Venus next time?

Mira rubbed her forehead with her fingertips, that headache was back again. They had just been given permission to go on their way from the Romulans. When Vaytoc sent her an image of Kolar going into a Jefferies tube. "That little devil." Mira mumbled. "You have the bridge. It would seem I have to put Kolar back down for his nap. Computer, Location of Kolar Lance?" As the computer located him, she stood up and left.

Mira followed the little giggles. Vaytoc had been left behind as Kolar went up the ladder, and he wasn't happy about it. She patted his head before going up.

Mira frowned at seeing her son. "This is not taking a nap."

Kolar pouted hanging upside down. "But you not taking a nap?"

Mira narrowed her eyes. "I am an adult and captain of this ship." She waved a finger around it a circle. "You are a little boy, I told you to take a nap. You didn't take a nap, and you snuck away from Zimia. That is very bad. You're going to be punished for that." Mira frowned. She hated this. "No cookies tonight and two days of not coming here to play. Let's go."

Kolar pouted. "But, I a big boy now. I fly the ship."

Mira shook her head, "I left you under the protection of Zimia, and you snuck away. that's disobedience and very bad."

"You gonna tell dada?" he asked as she went down the ladder first to catch him if he fell.

"Your dad already knows." Mira told him as she got down to where Vaytoc was waiting. "And you left Vaytoc." she told him.

"I told him go home, he didn't." Kolar told her.
"You don't give Vaytoc orders. I bet he told you to go home." she told him, already knowing what happened.

Kolar nodded.

"Next time, listen." Mira told him, taking his hand as they came out of the Jefferies tube. "Bet Venus is almost done with her nap, and now she will not have someone to play with."

Kolar made a disappointed sound but said nothing as they walked into their quarters, and she tucked him into bed.
