Therapy

Mission: Thunderdome
Location: Counsellors Office
Timeline: Current

T'Pralik sat in her office, gazing out the tiny window onto the promenade she had been given. While she’d only just joined the Chuck Norris, she could tell that the Starbase was… well a little more static. People could have lives here, grow families. Not be in imminent danger of being kidnapped by aliens.

Commander Rodale had sent her a message a few days ago asking for a meeting, and truth be told she should have called her in the moment she stepped back onto the ship. She’d even failed to meet most of the other officers, faking that she was meeting with the junior officers first.

In truth, T'Pralik had spent the last few days in reflection. When she joined the Chuck Norris, barely a week ago, she had been full of dreams, and ambitions, and how she would do this and that. But when crisis eventually struck, there was nothing she could do. Last night, she had finally decided on persisting, and not asking for an immediate leave of absence or jumping ship.
She might even ask the Captain if she’d be able to server as counsellor on the station instead, and thus be out of harms way, but still be able to help the crew.

However, that meant that she had her duty to fulfill now, which meant helping those hurt even worse than her. She softly pushed the Accept button on the PADD, creating an immediate meeting with the Commander. (And yes, she had looked through the commander’s schedule first, she wasn’t that much of an amature).

Wanting to make a good impression, while she waited for the commander to arrive, she set her hair into a bun, and opened her door wide, and sitting deep into her chair

Mira had gotten a time and where to meet the councilor. Keying entry even with the door open, then when she heard 'Enter' and walked in. "Good morning, Sorry about it taking so long to meet, I should have welcomed you aboard the ship, but....things got a little crazy."

Mira took a seat in the normal chair a counselor assigned to their patients.

Taking a deep breath, and wishing herself good luck, T'Pralik began with "So. Tell me about your experiences on the last 'mission'."

Mira set back in the chair. " Ok, that is a huge request. Where to start? First, I was taken. They decided I was one of the previous kidnapped Trills, and I was what they referred to as tagged. It was a device they placed in my arm to track and control me. I am guessing since they thought I escaped before, they thought I would do it again. Which I did." Mira frowned "Well I tried to, but I got caught then rescued by our people. The device was devious and kept changing days and memories on me. The only way I could counteract it was to take a symbiont. They keep memories safe. Luckily, this symbiont was very young and had no previous hosts. So I do not have to deal with past life problems of other people." Mira laughed "just my own, and they far too many."

"So how did taking the symbiont affect you? From my very surface understanding of Trill culture, it's a fairly significant occurrence no?"

Mira nodded. "I had trained to become a host but changed my mind. It wasn't something I wanted. My own life is crazy enough without adding 4 or 5 other life times of experience. My symbiont has no baggage, no memories of other hosts. The memories I get from it is...... Serene. Memories of swimming in the pools and of Verad singing to them. My own memories of Verad are confused. Sometimes, I think of him as my father. Then I have to remind myself my parents died when I was 7."

"Interesting... Well, tell me about your relation to the crew. As I understand it, you've also served on Starbase 10. How do you feel about being on a ship like this, especially one that seems to get into trouble as often as the Chuck Norris?"

Mira relaxed. "I think this should be a good move. Our ship is on the small side. While I have tried to make sure people get enough time off ship as possible, I hadn't realized they needed a place of their own. While the lower decks are all klingon domain, the upper is designed for starfleet personnel. Our ship is a little fish in a big pond, but I think we should do just fine. At the very least, we have backup close by."

T'Pralik quickly wrote down a few notes, and then shuffled through some papers. Smiling to (hopefully) reassure both of them, T'Pralik asked "Next on my agenda was to ask you about your social life here on the ship. Do you feel that you are 'satisfied' socially on the ship?"

Mira nodded her head slowly "I started on the ship as chief of operations so I was able to make friends, as the XO it's my job to keep a finger on the pulse of the ship so to speak. I have an open policy with the crew and they can come to me at any time day or night. "

Looking satisfied, T'Pralik asked "Well, lastly, do you yourself have something you’d like to talk about with me?"

This is what Mira was dreading. She tapped her fingers on the arm of the chair.

"Yes.....Two problems really maybe three. One is locks and I am dealing with being marooning on a planet for four year. It was one of the reasons I picked the USS Chuck Norris. Less people to deal with. "

Mira's hand went to one of her curls as she twisted it around her finger. "I don't know how much you have read but ......at the time I was mated to a Klingon named Kolar. I thought we were happy..." she was quiet "He wanted a baby and finally I got pregnant. We were going to what my captain called forced R and R. She booked us transportation to Risa on a civilian ship. No cares, just us with fun and relaxing. "

Mira bit her lip. "The Orions attached, I was..." her hand went to her stomach. She had been cut open. The memories of holding her body inside was still hard to talk about.

"Wounded. I remember Kolar carrying me to medical yelling to stay with him...." she swallowed hard . "They told Kolar I lost the baby and he just nodded and left me in the care of medical as he went off. Not even a word to me. "

Mira was having trouble sitting still so she stood and walked over to the viewing port "The ship ordered evacuation and I was placed on a small shuttle with a doctor and nurse. The Orions attacked the shuttle by beaming on board killing everyone....Vaytoc was with me. He killed the Orions but we crashed on Hell. Four years I did anything I had to so I survived only to find out everything was gone and I needed to start over. My mate chose to stay on a ship to fight until it blew up rather then get me to safety. " she turned to look the counselor.

"How do I deal with that? Was I not important enough for him to stay with when I couldn't take care of myself or was it a klingon thing and he was to happy in the fighting to think of any thing else? I try to justify it by thinking he was trying to get the baby into Sto-vo-kor by some great deed but I just don't understand."

Trying to hide her panicking about having to deal with something serious, T'Pralik thought for a moment, and asked "Are you aware whether this Kolar survived the attack? Is he still alive?"

Mira sat down, "There is a security feed from the ship showing him there when the explosion happened. No one could have survived and if he had he would have found me on that planet. I have talked to the high council they investigated. They said he is dead. They also would like me to marry a hand picked man of their choice to keep Kolar's house safe." Mira laughed shaking her head "I told them that's not happening. They can keep the house." Mira rested her head back on the chair.

T'Pralik was growing slightly nervous that she was going a little too deep. "Have you had any major relationships since?"

"I spent 4 years on a planet with only my cat and most of the creatures in that world trying to eat me for dinner. When I went to look for my mate, I had to deal with the Klingons, so I came back to Starfleet. I have met someone I am interested in. We are taking things slow."

"Well, if you ever need to talk about it, my office is always open. Is there anything else on your mind?"

Mira shook her head, "No I think I dumped enough on you." She smiled "if you need anything from me remember my door is always open. And welcome to the USS Chuck Norris." Mira Added before standing to leave.

T'Pralik waited until the Commander was out of earshot before she made a small ‘Woop!’ in celebration of a successful appointment.
