Engineering Calibration pt 2

Posted on Sat Aug 8th, 2020 @ 4:57pm by Lieutenant Commander Ech'am G'ginloss

Mission: From the Sidelines
Location: Chuck Norris Engineering
Timeline: Current

-72 hours later-

The past 72 hours has given the chief a broad understanding of those in his dept. They are hard workers and they have various ideas to help improve the capacity of this ship.

"You have all performed well with fixing that which we have determined needed to be addressed. However we have another task that needs to be completed before anyone can leave the ship. The short version is the whole system needs to be calibrated on top of the work already done."

"Sir, why did we not do that along with the work we performed?" Heather asked. The others murmured in agreement with the question.

"If we had done a full system calibration with the system not in proper order it ultimately would have caused a system wide failure. The next calibrations are sensitive enough that any improperly aligned systems would cause failures in the sub possessor routines resulting in warp field degradation. This would either mean permanent loss of warp capability, or being stuck in warp until we either hit something, tear ourselves apart, or something unknown happens. Now, no more questions, get to work."

-96 hours later-

After a little bit of sweat blood and tears the ship hummed with beautiful anticipation of being used. The five of them looked at what they had done with pride.

"Now, hopefully we will learn to work smoothly together, regardless of how you feel about me, I was assigned here by those higher then even me. I will not be soft on you so if that is what you want then you won't work out under me. However if you want to learn, become better at your jobs, and have outstanding knowledge about these systems, then perhaps there is room for each of you here. Make your decisions before we are cleared to leave this station. If you remain, working here will no longer be a job of slacking, runabout and slow work. I expect each of you to follow orders, and your work to be timely and efficient. Once we leave the station, one of us will always be on shift. This ship will not return to a state of disrepair. Either accept that a klingon is now who you answer to, or do not return to this ship. Do each of you understand?

"Yes sir!" They all respond with at the same time.

"Dismissed"

Lt. Ech'am G'ginloss
