Sitting with a contented sigh, she leaned her back against a fallen log. Mira crosses her legs at the ankles.
Looking around to see that she was able to accomplish, in a short time, made her smile. The tent was up, but she hoped to sleep outside under the stars tonight. For comfort, she had changed into sweat pants, a tank top, and a jacket to keep warm.
Her hands came up to take down her long alburn hair, letting it fall down around her, then used the tips of her fingers to rub her scalp.
The fire was blazing in the fire pit and ready to cook on if Vaytoc would bring some food back.
The view was amazing with the river close by the camp and the snow cap mountains in the background. She would be climbing one of them tomorrow.
The last time Vaytoc came running through camp, she had told him to get food.
hearing a crashing through the bushes, Mira expected to see Vaytoc, but she froze. "By all the was holy." That huge gold thing was not her companion.
Mira narrowed her eyes Mountain Lion? It was a good 100 lbs.
Once in the clearing, it lowered itself to the freeze frame movement Vaytoc used all the time before he pouced. Well, son of a targ, Mira thought.
Her eyes darted to the trees. There were a few branches she could swing up on to get higher, but as fast as she was, she did not think she could outrun that.
Her Mek'leth was by her side, but in all honesty, she was going to get torn up trying to defend herself.
When it got halfway to her position. A black flash came running out, and the two cats rolled together. it only took her a moment to realize the two were playing.
Mira let the air out of her lungs she didn't even know she was holding and relaxed. Damn demented cat. Bringing friends home to scare the crap out of her. "Hey, where is dinner?"
Vaytoc gave what sounded like a laugh, then ran off with his new friend.
"Hey fur ball, I am hungry!" she called after him.
Reaching over to her backpack, Mira pulled out some dried fruit. Now that she knew Vaytoc didn't have his mind on business, she broke out what little supplies she brought.
What she needed was a good straight branch she could turn into a spear to get fish. Getting up, she went to look for one.
Finding what she wanted, she sat by the Fire using her blade to whittle a point on the end.
