{Aboard a Klingon ship in Romulan Space}

Kevin stood over the tactical control station on the Klingon ship with the Captain, Commander Rodale and Lieutenant Walker. The cloaked ship was silently cruising through Romulan space and Kevin had had the opportunity to get the wound on his arm properly tended to. The medical facilities on aboard were substandard when compared to those on the USS Norris but Lieutenant K’nar had done a creditable job give what she had. He rotated his arm to stave of the stiffness that was encroaching.

“There are three systems along our path of travel,” Kevin said pointing to the monitor on the tactical console, “Two have class M-planets that are heavily populated by Romulans including one with a major military facility. The third has a class L-planet with extreme seismic and volcanic activity.

He looked over at Commander Rodale. She has been similarly patched up by the Norris’ Assistant CMO. She was intently considering the data on the tactical monitor but Kevin thought that he could detect a haunted look in her eyes.

"I am betting the class L-planet." Mira predicted."If we go by what Q said of finding the ship before the Romulans do, it would have to be on a world they are not on. Plus, knowing how evil the Q's personality are they would have us go to a place they think I would never want to set foot on again. I was stuck for 4 years on a class L. " She rubbed her forehead with her finger tips was she letting Q under mind her confidence? Two heavily populated Romulan planet's would also be crazy to go to. "The one with the military facility would be something they would want us to break someone out of."

She looked to the Captain, he had fine ask on it.

"I agree," Trace nodded, "Why give us the task to find the survivors before the Romulans if they crashed on a populated world?"

"Maybe to set us up," the Captain speculated.

"What bothers me," Kevin interjected, "is not knowing why the Q want us to find and rescue a crew. I mean, can't they do it themselves?"

Mira shugged, "But to quote a Q, where is the fun in that? I want to know why is HE is so fascinated with becoming a father? He doesn't seem...the fathering kind of guy. I keep telling him I am not interested, but the next time, he just brings it up like the last two dozen times never happened." she closed her eyes for a moment. "By all that is holy, I wonder how many Risian / Q mixing there are in Risa right now?" she was quiet for a moment then said, "or how many Q Jr's could be on the ship they want us to save? That is a truly scary thought."

Mira was only half joking.

"The female Q said that he was interested in a Humanoid Q hybrid," Kevin replied, "and something about the experiment in having a Q child being a disappointment. I agree that Qs don't appear to have the strongest paternal instincts. As to the other point, Q has spent so much time concentrated on us I can only hope that they haven't had time to...uhh...mate with the Risans or our crew."

"It could be having fun," Trace replied thoughtfully, "but perhaps Lieutenant Lance is on to something. Maybe something is preventing the Q from rescuing the crew themselves."

"We can't make assumptions at this point," the Captain replied decidedly, "XO, I want you to try to find out more from Q about what they are playing at. It goes without saying that you shouldn't allow him to, in Mr Lance's words, 'mate' with you but given your natural disposition, that shouldn't be an issue."

Mira blinked a few times at her new orders but gave a little nod. She was going to be in the time out box again within the hour.

"Mr Lance and Mr Walker," the Captain continued, "I want you to gather more evidence around where the crew we are supposed to rescue is. Focus on the Class L planet first but notify me and the XO immediately if you discover that the ship wreck is on one of the other planets."

Kevin and Trace replied in the affirmative.
