Mission: The Q Effect
Location: Risa
Timeline: Immediately after Q-tie Pies

on:
{A Beach on Risa}

“A friend of yours?” the raven-haired Q asked as she rested her head on Kevin’s shoulder.

Lacking anything else to say, Kevin replied, “Lieutenant Walker, meet Q.”

Wagging a finger in front of Kevin’s face, the Q admonished him, “Ah-ah-ah, that is against the rules. But you are both so pretty I think I won't send you to time-out...yet.”

“What rules?” Kevin asked.

“The rules of the game my brother is playing, silly,” Q teased, “You broke the first. You can't tell anyone who we are? “

“How many rules are there?” Trace asked as he stood and brushed the sand off of his clothes.

“Three, I think,” she answered while running her hands over Kevin’s bare chest, ”You are lucky that the second rule allows him to give a hint to one person. Saying my name was more than a hint but this one is so cute!”

Normally, a beautiful woman being so forward would disconcert Kevin but his mind was so focused on the problem at hand that his usual anxieties were overcome. “Your literal brother?” he inquired.

“Figurative.”

“What is your brother's game?” Trace asked.

“He has some scheme to create a hybrid with a humanoid species to meld the good qualities, whatever those might be, with our benevolence and omnipotence.”

“Didn't Q have a child to do just that?”

“You broke the rules,” she cried, momentarily distracted from Kevin. “Off to time-out with you!” With a snap of her fingers, Trace disappeared from the beach.

“Bring him back!” Kevin demanded.

“So protective!” she cooed wrapping her arms around him and pressing her body up against his, “I love that in a man.”

Pushing her away, Kevin threatened, “Bring him back or I will break to rules too.”

“Oh, Pooh.” With a flash, Ensign Walker was back on the beach.

“So...c-c-cold,” Trace shivered, “B-b-but the question remains. Didn't you try this already?”

“We did,” Q admitted, “But it didn't quite take. The son was a disappointment to the Continuum and measures were taken.”

Kevin blanched at the thought was what measures omnipotent beings might take.

At that moment, a Norris crewmember approached and handed comm badges to Kevin and Trace then continued up the beach.

“Now where were we,” Q asked rhetorically as she pulled in close to Kevin once again.

Kevin stepped back as he replied, “You were telling us about your brother’s scheme.”

Q gave a little harrumph of displeasure, “He wants to impregnate one of you. Maybe more than one.”

Kevin and Trace shared an alarmed glance, then Kevin tapped the comm badge in his hand. “Lance to Norris.”

=/\= “This is the Captain. Go ahead Lieutenant.” =/\=

“Captain, I am stranded on what appears to be a beach on Risa with about half the crew. I am also with,” Kevin paused to consider his words carefully, “a representative of an extremely powerful faction.”

=/\= “I am aware of the situation. No need to identify the faction by name.” =/\=

“Aye, Captain. We have reason to believe that the faction intends to breed with one or more of the crewmembers.”

There was no response. His comm badge had been turned into chocolate.

“Lieutenant Walker,” Kevin ordered, “We need to warn the female crewmembers. And maybe the Risans as well.”

“We shouldn’t assume that the female crewmembers are the only ones at risk of being impregnated,” Trace cautioned giving Kevin a meaningful stare.

“You’re right,” Kevin replied giving a side long glance to the Q, “We had better split up.”

“Oh wait!” the Q exclaimed, her continence shifting from seductively playful to serious in an instant, “That’s rule number four. No interference.”

And with a snap of her fingers, Kevin and Trace disappeared from the beach.
