A night to remember

Mission:
The days of our lives
Location: Earth/Norris
Timeline: Present
On:
{ USS Chuck Norris, Bridge }
Montgomery walked in with a grin on his face. He had the best night ever sleeping in his new bed. The upgrades to the ship were amazing.
“Lieutenant JB Dersch How is the family settling in to the apartment I know it’s probably smaller then your wife would like but is far better then the one room you had before. The captain thought with a few less crewmembers on board we could use the extra room wisely. So families got the few apartments they were able to add. Hers, then yours, Kronnelti, and 2 others in case we have guests. Better make sure you make reservations for either the holo room or holobay. They are booking up fast.” He frowned as he scratched his chin. “we might need a rotation. How was you vacation?”
{ CN, Medical }
Billingsly straightened the short stack of PADDs that would need the Lieutenant's physical attention once she returned. They had only a modicum of upgrades, all of which K'ner had undoubtedly reviewed already, but it was good for the rest of them to be current and that gave them something to do on the cruise to Earth.
Checking out of medical for the shift coming on, she headed down to the Haz Team barracks, still slightly surprised she liked the whole group lodging thing. It was like a rural hostel, with public lodging, only with weapons. hehe... She shook her head as Margo reached out suddenly but didn't connect with her leg as she passed.
Looking back, she could see him giving her a nod, something she didn't realize she would appreciate when K'ner first challenged her. In some ways it seemed like last week, at other times, much longer, especially when she thought about all the aches she'd endured... and would still endure. But she didn't get as tired on basic exercises, and she could, almost, give as good as she got. She still got teased, but the nature of it had changed, and now she enjoyed it rather than became frustrated by it.
Mindset... She realized they'd carved her some new mental skills to go with the physical ones, not sure which ones she appreciated more. Her confidence was high, then it was like it wasn't even a factor anymore. It was belief. Faith in herself, and the crew, this team that operated like cells of the same organism.
That realization was calming when she was at her worst, and as she rolled back the blanket on her bunk she twisted her torso, pushing strike over and back, landing on Margo's back like a Tiken monkey, one leg swinging over his arm and hooking her foot behind his lower back, locking it into place just as she locked her arms around his neck and chin, turning her head in against his to maximise the tension and keep him from shaking her off.
Margo let her enjoy the moment, then slapped the buckle closed on his boot with his free hand and stood. He cleared the bunk above his but the hapless monkey didn't, impacting the bottom of it with a whoosh of air and a squeak. She didn't let off her holds, so he grunted and turned towards the door, ready for his shift, wondering how long he'd have to carry this makeshift backpack along... He actually smiled, but she'd never see it from back there.

Mira frowned as the doors to the shuttle opened. “There is snow? But it’s summer?”
Thor nodded with a big smile taking in a breath of the cold crisp air. “It’s great isn’t it?”
Mira nodded slowly as he picked up Kolar to carry him into the long house. “Well crap. My wedding dress is not going to work.” It was really the only thing Trill related to the wedding “guess I’ll have to go Viking.” Mira shrugged. The important thing was getting married.
“We could do an indoor wedding” Zimia added as she pulled her coat tighter.
“Its tradition. I think I have pushed enough of them and it will make Thor happy. I just hadn’t expected 32 degrees in summer here!”
She handed Ashla to Zimia “Get her inside where it’s warm I need to get ready for the hunt. Anyone going hunting this way. Spears and bows are the weapons we will be getting.”
Odin laughed as he saw her “it is good to see you little one.” Mira hugged him and slipped into the coat and boots he had waiting for her. “warmer clothing are in the hunting Hut as are your weapons and pack.” He told the group.
(Manifest, back engine room)
Awal finally found an area to rest after been through hell away from his shio and family.
He has his pass out writing a personal log realizing he missed quite a few months away from Dianna and Venus.
After making his personal log Awal then sends Mira a message that he's in the back engine room if she needed him.
{ Slivin bridge }
K'ner swiveled in the captain's chair, swinging back and forth with one toe on the floor. She alternated her attention between a couple of the bridge screens, and her own HUD.
The subterfuge on the orbital station had proved relatively successful, all they needed was a diversion, plus some other minor disturbances in remote areas of the station that would be easily resolved. Those should suffice to push out their eventual discovery of the missing captain that everyone was always so interested in manipulating, but one of the most resistant to it! They really should pick another puppet.
Kotsoo's programmed message from the runabout that was headed to the moonbase, and the only slightly anomalous lifesign readings aboard showing the Captain and Awal, would further delay any discovery of the ploy. The ship would eventually abort its landing and return, be checked in, and by then the Captain and her beau would be wed.
K'ner was ready to get back to the 'Norris, and so far that was on schedule as well. She was sure that would garner a bit of attention during all this, with many of the crew being a bit disappointed at missing the nuptials but ultimately glad of the occasion, plus it was an excellent reason for one last blowout party before they got back in the game.
K'ner could feel it, her gaze focusing beyond the screens of data... something was brewing... there always was but this... was... different? Not every surprise was baneful, and not every one unwelcome either, but it still grated on K'ner's nerves. Security in general, didn't like surprises... just graded levels of anticipated events with measurable outcomes.
Checking her dots again, she was satisfied with everyone's welfare and hoped she could avoid the political uproar when the Captain returned and they departed for home base. She actually wondered if they would even make it back before they were diverted to some new emergency.
Time would tell... time would tell...

{Hvalset Fjord, Greenland}
Mira’s eyes widened as the wild boar charged her. She jumped up to grab a tree branch and swung up to sit on the branch.
Odin laughed. “What are you doing? Trying to run him to death?”
Mira frowned. Why wasn’t Awal with her? Perhaps he was in the long house with Dianna and Venus? She knew that was where she wanted to be. Sitting by a warm fire and hugging her kids. Pulling out her bow, she took aim and shot it in the eye.
Thankfully the beasts dropped dead. There was cheering. Yeah, yeah, it had taken far too long and she was almost frozen.
Odin laughed. “Now, you carry it back and gut it.”
Mira cocked another arrow and shot it close to his foot, then cocked another arrow aiming it at Odin. “I am going back to the long house to take a hot shower, find a dress and look for something hot to drink. You can carry that. You will be eating far more of it than my whole family will be.”
He laughed nodded his head “Thor didn’t think you would fall for it and since your mate isn’t at the village there is no reason to keep ya out until the wedding.”
Mira frowned but got her feet on the ground and started to walk back to the village.
Walking into the guest longhouse, Mira smiled at Zimia and Diann “ I got that darn hog.” She slip her hand on her hip “Do you know Odin tried to get me to carry the darn thing back to the village! Jerk. “ Mira rolled her eyes as she looked around. “where is Awal?”
Dianna frowned “I thought he was with you?”
Slowly Mira shook her head no. Last I saw him was when we went into the changing rooms to get warmer clothing on. When I came out just about everyone was gone. I had thought we were all going hunting. It had been a while since the last time.” Mira bit her lip.
Zima shrugged, “you have 5 different dresses in your room to pick from but ahh. Well Thor might be going over board on the wedding decorations. I reminded him you wanted simple. Just the food they had planned to eat tonight, that the great hall was just the way you wanted it and that you only wanted your crew and the people that normally ate in the great hall.”
Mira nodded “jeez couldn’t one thing go as I planned? “
Fine she was going to take a long bath and let everything just go. As long as Kevin and her was married at the end then it was fine. “I need a bath.” She told both women as she walked.
Kolar had fallen asleep on the floor next to Ashla. It was probably a good thing since it was going to be a midnight wedding under the moon. She peeked out a window as she walked to her room just to make sure a blizzard or something hadn’t shown up.
“Oh wow” she whispered as the dresses came into view. Not what she had planned on but they were all beautiful. Kevin had better not stand her up.
