That just happened

Mission:
The days of our lives
Location: Knoktor
Timeline: Present
ON:
{IKS KNOKTOR}
A few days had passed since they had all agreed on a plan. Isbethal had insisted Mira work out and train ridiculously long hours. It wasn’t that Mira needed the extra training, it was more to keep her busy. It would seem that Isbethal was worried that, if Mira had too much time to think or ask questions, whatever they had planned might not work. Little did they know, the more crap they put her through, the more determined Mira was to ghost them.
Vaasha walked in to the gym while Mira was Performing a series of kicks, punches, and spins on the punching bag. Mira had on black leggings and a black sports bra on.
She knew Vaasha was there, but she hadn’t stopped her workout. At this point, it was really all she could do not to redirect her attack from the punching bag to Vaasha.
“I have good news.” Vaasha purred. “I found out that Kevin is attending an engagement party.”
Mira slowed her punches and kicks only slightly.
Since Vaasha wasn’t getting the reaction she wanted, she continued. “It would seem that it was very important to him, since he stopped asking about where you went off to and hopped on to his next assignment.”
Mira wondered if he thought she had gotten cold feet and took off on him after they agreed to be married. CRAP! She knew Vaasha was trying to make it sound like it was Kevin’s engagement party to someone other then her and he had gone off without a care.
Still, that hurt.
“They decided that it would be in the best interests of the Chancellor and the Federation that a bonding of house Rasmehlier to House of Antaak take place as soon as possible.”
Mira kept up the kicks to the bag. “And who in house Rasmehlier is interested in someone in house Antaak?” Mira asked, wondering what the hell this was all about. Granted, she was the one that had to approve the marriage. “it would be the joining of the heads of both houses.” Vaasha added.
Mira stopped and turned slowly to look at her. “Really? So the Chancellor wants the head of the house of Antaak to be killed?” Mira shrugged like she didn’t care and turned back to the punching bag, having a little more need now to destroy the blasted thing.
“No…they think you will be happy.” The other woman started to say, but stopped at Mira’s response.
Mira laughed, “So this mission I was kidnapped for was all about separating Kevin and me?”
“Well no. But it was to show both of you what you two can accomplish on your own. Kevin is a captain, why would he give that up? You are a leader of a great house about to join with another great house! Just think of the power you will have!”
Mira watched Vaasha closely. So that was apparently something the other woman thought was a selling point? “My Children?” Mira asked.
Vaasha smiled. “they will be happy on earth and just think of the adorable babies you and dralohk will have!”
K'ner just shook her head from her post in the corner.
Mira closed her eyes for a moment. Trying to keep her temper down, but it wasn’t helping. All Mira could see was red! The next moment Mira’s small body was being launched at Vaasha. Her new target. Three words ran in a mantra in her mind. Crush, kill, destroy.
She was so caught up in the fight that she hadn’t realized the ship was under attack or attacking something.
Awal ran in with their team. “Ship has announced Evacuation protocols” He pulled Mira off Vaasha and pulled her out the door.
Looking around, Mira counted heads. They were all here and Awal had thought to bring her backpack. “Do we know what’s going on?” Mira asked as she was pushed into an escape pod. She took her seat and bucked both Her and Vaytoc in. “A shuttle would be better.”
Awal nodded. “docking bay is blocked off due to damage.”
Mira nodded as the emergency pod released and they dropped.
K’ner was looking at the small screen. “There is a planet nearby. The sensors say it will support life but…. “ She looked over Mira. “Not my first choice of places to land.”
Mira nodded, hoping they made it. At this point, breathable air was important. Her arms rapped around Vaytoc. “Let’s hope this crash landing works out better then the last time.” Vaytoc tucked his head into Mira’s neck as they made their crash landing.
{Unknown world}
Well, the landing wasn’t one of the better one she had experienced. They were all alive and she didn’t have a broken leg this time. That’s a WIN-WIN in her book.
The Hatch was pried open. Getting out, she turned her head to the sky just in time to see an explosion. But was it the Knoktor or the ship that attacked? “Any idea where we are?” she asked the group.
"I don't know but my thing is picking up multiple life sources and by the looks it's animals," said Awal.
Mira looked around "ok grab what we can carry and let's head out. I don’t want to be here" she pointed to the ground, "if anyone comes to investigate the crash. Let's find out where we are first. We head up the mountain and see if the view of the land will tell us anything."
"I'll take point," said Awal as he keeps his Bowie knife in his hand.
Taking out his binoculars, he gets a good view. He says, "open plains, little grass, we have to hurry," as he hands them over to Mira to view the same thing.
Taking them Mira looks around “Crap they have green skin. Well that’s good and bad. We are on an Orion planet or a planet that has Orions on it. So that means a way off this rock.”
She watches as the wind blows the sand around. Hopefully that will hide our tracks. “Ok double time people. We don’t want them to find us.” She hands the binoculars back to him as she starts walking again.
Gaining ground towards the mountains, Awal hears commotion back at the crash site.
He tells Mira to keep the group going as he takes a knee and looks through the binoculars. ( People investigating crash site )
He then catches up. "People are at the crash site," said Awal. Looking up and reading the sky, I could be wrong but looks like a few more hours till darkness," he said.
Mira frowned as she looked back “they made better time then I thought they would. It does look like night fall soon. We need to get to that mountain area.” She pointed up farther on the mountain “hopefully we will find a cave. If this is Relva Vlll we don’t want to be out in the open and the temperature will drop. Hot in the day and cold at night.”
She flipped up the hood of her jacket to hide her hair then looked at the cats “you two stay with us no matter what.”
Vaytoc looked up at her then looked around as he inhaled but as she walked he followed.
{Cave}
Mira frowned by the time they had reached this high in the mountain it was too dark to see. “scan the cave for lifeforms and deal with them. Once we are safe inside then we need to hide the entrance with bushes try to make it look natural. By the time the bushes die we should be long gone from here. K’ner set a duty watch.“
K'ner nodded, waving Bravo to positions, then started cutting brush to camouflage the entrance.
Awal went with Spike into the cavern. Spike constantly sends Kronnelti images of what's ahead as they walk through.
10 minutes later they come back. "Nothing in this cavern to bother us," said Awal. "Spike and I also found a spot 30 or so feet back to set up camp with a fire as long as we properly cover the entrance."
Mira nodded “Ok we hide out here until daybreak . Hopefully we will be able to see what direction to go. If this is Relva Vlll from what I remember most of the small groups are scattered around and they didn’t have power but they were trying to build and survive. Most just didn’t want to catch the attention of the main city or Ngalal.”
Mira walked in and looked around the cave it was bigger then it had appeared from outside so they wouldn’t be cramped.
Everyone had taken rations and supplies from the ship. Still she wasn’t sure how long they were going to be stuck here. They all might end up working in one of the mines, if this was Relva Vlll. If it wasn’t then darn they had no intel on this world.
{ cave perimeter}
K'ner slipped inside now and then through the night, when the squad recovered from overwatch. She didn't need to actually stay in view of the outside, her squad could transmit video from their suits, but she liked the more open space, rather than cramped in an unstable cave structure... okay, it wasn't unstable, she admitted to herself, but it was a cave... she didn't care much for caves.
Settling next to the Ag man, Nod nodded. "We could easily survive here, there is enough natural flora and fauna to keep us going indefinitely. It's the local 'wild life' that would the issue. The green-skinned predators chief among those..."
K'ner sighed. "The groups we've seen didn't seen heavily armed... armed, yes, but not to a level I'm worried about. That group at the crash site showed up pretty quickly, which means there's either a settlement nearby, or they have a vehicle. That would be nice to have..."
Nod smiled and continued his scan. "Yup."
K'ner slipped over to the other side, taking a knee near Kotsoo. The helmet would keep their voices from carrying but it also meant no wide-scan broadcast either. K'ner didn't think they would be detected up here and this far away, but she didn't take chances she didn't have to.
"Assessment."
Kotsoo continued to watch his AOE. "Given the type of explosion, the effects, and that my ticker is no longer feeding me data, it was likely the Knoktor. But that all seemed very smooth and sudden, as if the other ship was lying in wait for us to show up as soon as we came out of warp."
K'ner nodded. "Agreed. I suspect this is just more of d'ghoc's machinations. Their plan was pretty simplistic, even moreso than mine, so I expected some deviation from their inferred route.
"Deena confirmed her motion sensor at the crash site only registered movement for a couple of minutes. Those tangos were there quick, and were looking for us specifically. No stripping for salvage or intel, they took off looking for us." K'ner was scanning her notes, plus the scans in her HUD.
Kotsoo took a deep breath. "So it's good we used the tremblers to settle out our tracks in the sandy soil rather than count on the wind to cover them over." He'd said it more of a statement than a question.
K'ner considered, counting up the blocks of time the search party would take looking for signs of their passing. "Deena left a couple of false clues in another direction, albeit close to ours so if they decided that's what it was, they'd shift farther as an alternate route to try next instead of falling on the right one just by luck."
Kotsoo nodded. "I thought that might be why she was gone for a bit there." He paused, thinking over the terrain. "We'll probably see them by dawn then?"
K'ner slowly released the breath she'd been holding. "Yup. Even on a search grid, they were on a mission, not just wondering around. They've done this before and I'm expecting they have some kind of detection gear, so we won't have put them off for long."
K'ner ticked up a message for the squad. "I want to let them in close. Isbethal may have let this happen, or even planned for it, but I doubt she provided details, especially when she didn't know the Captain would have an entourage on this gig when she set it up. They should be expecting a small group, perhaps some training but more crew-centric. I want to grab them for intel, or, if nothing else, we'll get some more equipment."
Kotsoo checked her chrono, set on the timing of the sun before it had set on their way here. "So now we wait?"
K'ner nodded. "Affirmative. That's something we're so very good at. I'll get the others into flanking positions before our search party arrives so we can close in on them. The suits will mask us before they realize just how deep in trouble they are. Korra will make sure no comms get out either."
