Klarr put an old hand on top of Mira’s as he leaned in. "I am sorry for the loss of your mate, little one. There are many a Klingon male who would jump at the chance to keep you warm at night."
Mira smiled sadly. She hated when someone brought Kolar up. She had made a foolish choice in naming her son after her deceased mate when he was put in her care. Conrad or Connor would have been a far better choice. What had she been thinking? Mira put her drink down and then covered his old hand and with hers. "I didn't fall in love with Kolar because he was Klingon. There is no reason to go to bed with another Klingon in hope of falling in love. Same with the man I have in my life now, I didn't fall in love with him because he was human. I fell in love with his honor, the strength he has, and the way he made my heart race. We have a beautiful son together." Mira smiled.
Klarr frowned, "And yet you named him after you Klingon mate?"
Mira winced. "At the time, I wasn't with Kevin, and I didn't know he was the father. I hadn't even planned that my life could have a child in it. Little Kolar was going off to live with my cousin and her Klingon mate. I thought the name might endear the boy to my brother in-law. Things have changed enough that his name should be something else, but Kevin said he is fine with it." Mira shrugged.
Klarr shook his head no. "I don't understand why it wouldn't bug him. After all, with him having that name, you are saying he is Kolar's son."
Mira frowned. Klingons and there are rules, she thought. She had been so wrapped up in her conversation that she hadn't noticed a hand was on her leg. The armor kept her from feeling it. She sat up straighter and turned to the Klingon. "Remove it or lose it."
The man just grinned. Jackson pulled D'klala's arm, stopping her from interfering. "Just watch." he whispered.
Mira’s hand shot out in a blur, grabbed a knife off the table, and stabbed through his hand and unto her leg. Of course, the blade hit the baakonite reinforce suit so she wasn't harmed. As he pulled it out, he nodded, moving away.
Mira turned back to Klarr, her eyes narrowing just a bit. "How long was that hand on my leg?"
He chuckled. "Only a moment. He will remember not to be so forward next time. Are you hurt?"
Mira shook her head no. "I should probably go and see why the Romulans haven't met with you."
Klarr frowned. "No. I will give them until after dinner. Then, I will deal with it myself. None of us want to be here; nor do we believe they would join forces to stop the Gorn. They are too cowardly. This is all Ambassador M’Niras doing trying to get us to all to work together, but Klingons do not work with cowards. They have attacked us as well as the Gorn. They have no backbone."
Mira frowned, but he wasn't saying anything that she didn't already know. She rubbed her forehead, feeling a headache coming on. She wanted to see her son, and she needed a hug from Kevin. Maybe a few kisses too would help. "If you don't need me right now, I am going to return to my quarters. It's not too far from here, just a few doors down from you."
Jackson nodded to Mira as she stood up, and they followed her out. "Are you ok, Captain?"
Mira nodded. "Just a headache. I need to think up a few plans. Going for a swim should help with the headache and clear my head."
