[ship personnel quarters]

:putting the dishes back in the replicator Mira eyed Vaytoc. He was full and pleased as he lounged across the bed.:

"So big guy should we see what was saved for us? "
He just turned is head at a funny tilt and watched her. After 4 years of living alone Mira had gotten use to having a one-sided conversation with him. Opening the trunk she laughed as she pulled out her Vulcan lute. Her fingers strummed over the strings. It had been 4 years since she played one.

Mira next pulled out the holo screens. Her uncle had given them to her on her first posting as a ensign. They attached themselves to any surface then connected to a padd. You could make them look like a viewport with any environment you wanted. She had 6 of them. Looking at the plan walls around her then set out to putting them up.

Eyeing her handy work she grinned as she typed out command codes on her padd. Within moments, the screens all turned to vids of Kronos. Vaytoc purred . " like that do you? " she asked him. It did bring back good memories of her time there.

Going back to the trunk she started pulling out some of the other stuff. Her door sounding someone we there so she called out "enter"

In walked Maltan, he smiled at her in greetings hoping he caught her in a good mood.

Raiseing a delicate eyebrow at him. "like living dangerous do you?" she asked in a tone not letting him know if she was still mad or not. Really, she wasn't sure herself.

Maltan grinned " that would be why I brought these" in his hands were a box of chocolate, no doubt ones from all over the Galaxy, flowers, and a bone for Vaytoc. "

Vaytoc happily trotted over to take it from him then settled down. Mira playful hissed at him "traitor!" but as she said that she was walking forward to take her gifts. As she did, he leaned down and placed a little kiss on her cheek.

"thank you I think I might have forgotten what chocolate tasted like." Mira replied it had been one of her weaknesses.

He just grinned as he pulled out a padd. "Think you wanted to take a stab at the holo deck program. I wanted it better for the next crew."

After putting the gifts down she walked back to him taking the padd. Shaking her head at him she sighed "you really did an excellent job at the environment that's what kept confusing me. It was all the other things that wasn't adding up in my head. The how I got there. Why the anomaly just disappeared . You would have been better of introducing a Q or something to better explain things. I understand why I was separated from the crew. it's my biggest fear. "

He nodded " we wanted to make sure you could handle it."

Laughing bitterly Mira shook her head. " 4 years is more then enough survival training for any planet or away mission. You wanted to see if I would snap. Tell me want would you have done if I had?"

Maltan frowned, "It was only meant to test. Your counselor assured us you would be able to handle it."

Mira curled up on the chair. Tucking her legs under her she turned her attention to the program on the padd not answering him or asking anymore questions. She wasn't sure she wanted to know. Her fingers flew over the padd typing code. "To many variables. Cut it down to direct people in only 2 paths. "

He nodded, hiding his grin. She was better then she thought and just need time to get over a few insecurities she hadn't had before. He took a seat and just watched her work. Mira had been the one that had gotten away from him and got swooped up by a Klingon Captain. But the man had died and he wondered if he still had a chance.
He really did love the way her brain worked out problems and he had tried to steal her for his department but exploring was to much apart of her and command had put her in a position she could excel and heal.

"There, that's the changes I would have make. but ...." she shugged not really caring if he took her up on the options.

"thanks would you like to have dinner?" He asked hopefully

"just finished dinner " was her reply very short and simple.

Maltan nodded "drinks in 10 forward?"

Mira shook her head, "not this time. I think I'll just hangout here and get a feel for the ship."

He knew she planned on running though the decks to release tension and memorize the ship. Perhaps she wasn't over the loss of her mate. To her he had just been missing and she had thought he was looking for her not that he died in the ship's explosion.

He should just leave and try again later. Hopefully before someone else became a part of her life.
Putting on a smile he took the padd. "ok see ya later then"

Mira nodded " good journey, Maltan"
