Prepping the Old Girl

Posted on Mon Mar 23rd, 2020 @ 6:51pm by Captain Aurther Winters

Mission: New Captain
Location: Various
Timeline: Current

Aurther took a couple small sips, and then a large one out of the cup of hot chocolate that was given. The flavour was for more intense then he was expecting. The aroma tickled his nose and made him flinch ever so slightly. It was different... very different but it in a good way. He wasn't going to be able to finish it and pass full judgement on the beverage. The message that the Captain was arriving in 30 minutes finally put down a timeline for him. He placed the half drank drink down and thanked Ms. McCoy for the drink.

"You're welcome, was there something wrong with it?" She questioned once she saw how much was left.

"No, I just don't have time to finish it. I'm interested in it.I was never a coffee guy, so hot chocolate is where I put my passion for hot beverages. So I usually have to try out a drink a few times before I make judgement. However, that being said, I do like where that was going."

They both smiled and Aurther made his way out of the mess hall. Passing through the decks of the ship was a quicker task then normal. The small ship was genuinely easy to navigate through. After passing through the lower decks first, he ended up on the bridge. There was only one other person, a ensign as the helm, obviously making sure that she ship didn't drift too far away from the station.
Aurther took in a view as a wave of memories began to race through his mind. The sites and sounds of the good time, the alarms and sounds of the bad. There had been some major refits, with technology progressing as much as it had, he wasn't surprised. The bridge felt larger, with the consoles and different work stations being more compact. This allowed there middle of the bridge to have both the Captains chair as well as the Executive officers chair side by side with a few computers on each side. Much like the Intrepid class or Nova class, but smaller to fit the ship. The helm stayed at the front, but seemed resigned to give the helmsman more control over the ship. He would have to see the other stations one by one to see any more differences.
He took his seat in his chair and began to run through diagnostics and reports on anything he thought might pertain to the ship. He did not know anything about his new captain, really this new ship or crew. He was, for right now, out of his element. With the arrival of his new Captain, he hoped he would be right back into it.
