“Roger, Sierra-02,” Kevin responded, “Analyze and advise.”

The pilot of Sierra-02 acknowledged the order and the communication channel was quite once again. Kevin checked the navigational plot of the Binpatt Ore. Lieutenant Wallker’s shuttle had returned to its position on the sensor line but was monitoring the progress of Cardassian science ship. So far, it appeared, the Cardassians were not aware of Norris’ interest in the unidentified anomaly.

=/\= “Norris, this is Sierra-02, we have made contact and completed our initial scan of anomaly two-seven-bravo. Approximately 1100 cubic meters with a significant mixture of heavy elements. Sending internal scans.” =/\=

Kevin looked at the diagram that was transferred to the main view screen on the bridge. The scans looked vaguely familiar but he couldn’t quite decide what it was.

The engineering duty officer examined the diagram and data on the view screen and announced with confidence, “I am pretty certain that that is a portion of a warp nacelle. Inboard and outboard intercoolers, with warp coils surrounding a central catwalk.” The officer pointed out details on the view screen.

If this is part of the Avenger’s warp nacelle, then larger portions of the ship might have survived intact, Kevin thought. We are getting close, I can feel it.
