Waiting for the arrival

Mission: From the Sidelines
Location: Starbase 10

:ON:

Josh crossed the busy promenade of Starbase 10 and made his way to one of the larger docking pads. It looked empty of any starships at the moment, but some Starfleet personnel appeared to be busy preparing the site for an imminent arrival.

“Sir?” Josh approached one of the men in Starfleet uniform, and immediately noticed the two golden pips on his collar, “I’m Ensign Anderson; transferring to the USS Chuck Norris as Assistant Chief Operations Officer?”

The man turned to face Josh and nodded with a smile, “Lieutenant Ross Bentley.” The two men shook hands firmly, “I’m Starbase 10’s supply officer, getting ready to restock the Chuck Norris when she arrives.”

Josh looked at the man’s long gingery hair and couldn’t help but think he could do with a haircut. “So she’s on her way?” Josh asked eagerly.

Bentley again nodded, “She’s heading this way as we speak. I suggest you go up a level and take a seat in the officer’s mess; you’ll get a fantastic view of the ship docking from there.”

Josh smiled, “Thanks for the tip! Hope to see you around.”

Bentley smiled and returned to his duties.

Josh turned on his heels and headed for the nearest turbolift. Seeing a Defiant-class starship docking would be a treat! Stepping out of the turbolift once it had reached its destination, he walked into the officer’s mess and approached the window at the end of the room. It was a huge window, stretching from the floor to the ceiling and across the entire length of the room. As he pressed against the window he saw the faint flash of a starship leaving warp in the distance. Could this be the Chuck Norris arriving?
