Mission: The Q Effect
Location: outside CN docking
Timeline: Current

After dealing with the Q along with almost getting killed in the sandstorm, we finally arrived to earth 1, and Kronnelti can't wait to get some R&R along with spike the Lt's pet.

Personal room:

Spike, I've needed a vacation ever since I started, spike nudges Kronnelti in agreement. Honestly, boy, I've never had a pet, so this is all new to the both of us....

Spike, i think we should see if Commander Rodale could help us, and maybe you could make a friend as well, Vay'toc is her pet.

Picking up a PADD Kronnelti, seeing he has a message from Rodale. She went on R and R. He read the whole message and frowned. At least she told me where.

Then tapped his comm badge "Lt.Kronnelti to Earth Spacedock security department."

"Did a Lt.Commander Mira Rodale come through security before heading to Earth?"

The line was quiet for a few moments.
=/\="Little, really cute with spots?" =/\=

"Yes, she is Trill." Lt.Kronnelti was getting annoyed with the man being so unprofessional. "Did she go down by herself?"

=/\= Well .......she had a cat with her. The place she is going.....Oh, that area is deserted.=/\= The man told him uncertain now.

"I'll find her," he told the other officer before disconnecting. His XO should not be headed out by herself to an area no one else was. Yes, she could handle herself just fine, but injury could happen then what? Did she think her pet could call them on her comm badge?
Clearly, she wasn't thinking straight.

With his bag packed, he headed to the shuttle. " Come on spike, let's see if Rodale has gotten herself in trouble.......yet."

Taking the second shuttle to the destination Mira went to Kronnelti gave head Pat's to spike, I know boy.

Let's give the commander a surprise shall we as the first shuttle is coming into view, Kronnelti is having a strange feeling he's never experienced before and completely unsure if it's excitement or getting chewed out by the commander.


{Earth, Colorado, Mountain National Park}

Hearing a shuttle entering the area, Mira looked over her shoulder. She could just make it out in the sky, and it looks like it might be landing in the area of her camp site. Her comm badge hadn't gone off, so it wasn't a ship emergency.

She could continue up then rappel, or she could use her emergency out. Being so close to the top, she kept going up.

Getting to the top her arms trembling, pulling her the last foot over the ledge. Sitting with her legs dangling over the ledge, she thought What a view!

Once she recovered, Mira tied off the line, looping the line through her belt. Mira took hold of the grips and then jumped off the edge. Desending quickly kicking off the side the mountain every so often.

once the shuttle landed at the destination, kronnelti stepped out and looked around, he motioned for spike to follow him. It's very different from my home planet stated the Lt.

They started walking to the mountains taking their time with no need to rush, on occasion spike would stop and sniff everything as he's curious of all the scents.

The closer they got to the mountains Kronnelti was able to see someone in the distance, so they got closer and to his suprise it was Rodale at the base of the cliff. Lets not scare her spike!

Taking their time both Kronnelti and spike was able to get close enough to see Rodale climbing up and repelling down, as it seems like she's been at this for a couple of hours but the way she climbs it looks like she's done this for years & with a smile on her face she's in her happy place with nobody to bother her about what's going on in federation space.

Landing, she stepped out of the cord. Mira clicked the release, bringing the cord down as it fell she started wrapping it around her hand and elbow, then placed it on her shoulder.

Normally Vaytoc was there to greet her, and as always he came trotting out of the bush. She used both her hands to rub the side of his face then ears. Hearing him purr she smile.

Vaytoc's head raised then looked down the path to the camp sit. Mira was surprised to see Kronnelti and another cat.
"Lt is there any thing wrong?" she asked him

Nope but I now have a pet and not used to it and wondering if you could help me train spike like you did Vay'toc? That's why Im here and maybe both Vay'toc and spike could play said Kronnelti.


Mira nodded slowly looking at the cob'lat. "He seems surprisingly friendly."

Looking down at Vaytoc her fingers caressed his head. "Vaytoc friend."

Vaytoc sent an image of the inside of the USS Chuck Norris to her.

"Yes Vaytoc to bring home." That seemed to perk him up a bit. The last friend he had brought back to camp she had to tell him no. They couldn't bring a mountain lion back to the ship as a friend.
Looking up at Kronnelti she smiled.

"probably the best place for them to meet is here. It's not anyone's territory. Cats are difficult to train it's more like you tell them what you want and if they feel like they will do it." she chuckled

They started to walk back to camp
"I try to get Vaytoc off the ship as much as I can so when we dock he can stretch his legs and see new things. Holodecks are good but outdoors really is great. For him and myself. I am just starting to get use to being back on the ship."

Back at the camp site Mira said "Vaytoc fish" His head went in the direction of the water. Mira gave him a playful shove "hungry"

Then she looked at spike "Take spike with you" Mira wasn't sure how Vaytoc did it but he was able to get animals to follow his lead. Perhaps he put images in there mind too.

Listening to Rodale he tries to do the same. Kronnelti kneels down next to spike scratching the back of his fluffy ear, hunt fish as he pointed to the river and successfully was able to show a vision in spikes mind as he stalked up to the river watching and waiting for the right moment to strike.

Kronnelti and Mira watch as spike dives into the river coming back out with a big fat rainbow trout as he walks back up purring about his first catch.

Kronnelti looks back at Rodale and chuckles not bad for his first time. I'm honestly surprised he took to me after I had to subdue him because Q snapped him to fight me says Kronnelti.


"It might have been because you did subdue him but didn't hurt him. Q ! They have alot to answer for but no one can put them in there place."

She picked up some wood to add to the fire. "All I want to do is punch his face."

I know the feeling, I've been through starfleet records on the q and found out Capt Picard went through the same bs with the Q and won

Mira thought about it. "Well, we did live, and we had two of them to deal with. So I think it is a win."

Kronnelti gets up and walks to the river, he pulls out a fly combo and starts casting. Within two minutes Kronnelti pulls in another rainbow trout then another. He walks back to the fire and preps dinner.

Hope you like rainbow trout asks Kronnelti? I also have extra for Spike and Vaytoc.

"They will love that, I always eat what we find out here." Mira told him.

She took a coffee pot over to the river, filling it with water, then walked back. Reaching into her bag, she pulled out 2 water purifying tables and then placed the pot on the fire to heat as she went about fixing Raktajino.

"I have to admit Q got under my skin a few times." she swallowed hard thinking of the life she had been offered but turned down.

"They have the power to change things for the better and use it like .....children."

Growing up on my home planet I've learned that those who abuse power like the q have a punishment of death in the fighting arena said Kronnelti

Those who abuse power on earth which I find strange is jail I don't understand humans unless your on our ship.

The kettle started screaming which meant the meal was ready, Kronnelti took the two extra fish and put them on separate plates for Vay'toc and spike he then took two other plates and made the meals.

So why did you join starfleet? Asked Kronnelti

For me it had to do with the academy, I heard there was a lot to offer so I joined right after I became of age. Never knew I'd be with a lot of people that loved their ship and treated the crew like family.


"Me?" she smiled."I had a completely different life planned. I joined the Symbiosis Commission and trained for years to become a diplomat. The symbiont I was to become host to was a diplomat, and I was traveling with him as his aid. " Her face lost some of its happiness." I ran into my brother after he was joined.

He changed. I mean, it scared the crap out of me how much the past lives we are granted can change the host. I quit that night boarded a frater vessel, and the Captain hired me as the translator , communications officer. I then learned to pilot. After that, I worked security on risa. It was then my cousin talked me into joining Starfleet."

She laughed."My first posting, I met my mate. A klingon captain. We were happy for many years, but he died in battle. I spent 4 crazy years stranded on an L class planet. Was rescued and came back to starfleet."

So is that why you was so hesitant to hit me back in medical Kronnelti chuckled, I haven't found my mate yet tbh I don't think I'm ready.

Kronnelti looks up at the sky, looks like we have roughly 3 hours left of sunlight

Kronnelti grabs his bag and pulls out a tent big enough for him and spike and sets it up, a night like this is what I heard about from humans because it's something to experience said Kronnelti.

Mira chuckled. "That and it's against regulations. " she sipped her Raktajino fighting a smile,"but if you truly needed help, I wasn't going to let you down." She sighed as Vaytoc settled next to her, dropping his brush onto her lap.
She knew how Kronnelti felt. She wasn't sure if she was ready either. Picking up the brush, she started to brush Vaytoc's fur, making him purr.

Kronnelti yawned it's been a day and thank you for the help with spike as he finished his Raktajino, tomorrow I'm heading back to the ship and figure out what is going on next.

Have a good night Mira as Kronnelti crawled into the tent with spike.

"Any time, have a good night's rest, Kronnelti," She told him, moving to clean up the camp site.

Mira pulled her sleeping bag out from her tent. Wide open space is what she wanted, sleeping outside under the stars.

Tomorrow, she would take Vaytoc on a run. she got into her sleeping bag as Vaytoc laid his head on her stomach her hand resting on his head then closed her eyes.
