Mission: The Return

Timeline: Present

{Outpost 382 Headquarters, CO office}

Mira sat at the captain's chair, her hands on the desk tapping her fingers. She loved facts, but these weren't adding up.

Captain Williams had always been the type of guy who wanted glory and praise. "What have you been up to?" A stack of reports sit on his desk.

She needed more information. Maybe one of these might help. Picking one up, she started to read.

Science officer report from the USS Equinox. things started to be a little clearer. Well crap she thought.

Rodriguez walked in, looking happy with himself he had a jacket in one hand and cup in the other. Mira happily took the jacket and slipped it on "thanks That wouldn't be Raktajino would it?"

"No, the systems here didn't have it in the replicator, but it is coffee." Rodriguez told her looking at the reports she had out on the desk. "Can't stay away from reading reports even off the ship?"

Taking a sip of the much needed liquid Mira set back down.

"it's a science report, and it might just be the reason for all of this." That got his attention .

"Seems the USS Equinox was messing with the aray and opened the gateway into Fluidic Space." She signed as she sat back, putting her feet up. "They started this war, and the Undine was defending their space. The Equinox fired a modified torpedo, killing some of the Undine and their ships. Then, the Undine followed them back to our space. And here we are in the middle of this war."

She bit her lip, wondering what the next step should be. If they could get in touch with the Captain, she would happily dump this whole mess on his lap, and he would love to get to deal with 8472. She could tell, just the thought of getting to meet them had thrilled him.

"I wish the captain was here." she said

Rodriguez frowned. " You told me once that when you were in the Symbiosis Commission, you had trained for years to be an ambassador . Mira nodded but didn't say anything.

She sighed. " they studied one of the Undine. It seems I was right, one of the main neurotransmitters in the Trill brain is isoboramine. They found something similar in the Undine.
I have two cerebral nuclei, but since I am not joined, I have one brain wave pattern. They have the same thing. Only one side it used for telepathic abilities. I don't have that ability."

Rodriguez nodded. "Maybe that's why they tried so hard to connect with you. They thought you could."

Mira shugged, not really knowing their reasons she just knew this was well above her pay grade.
