Doctor Hauser leaned over the unconscious man and scanned him with a medical tricorder. The blow he had given him was hard enough to knock him out, but not too hard that it would cause any long lasting damage. With his knowledge as a physician he knew just how hard to hit and where.

“What’s his status?” Winters asked, straightening his tunic. Despite feeling like he had ridden a constant rollercoaster these last couple of weeks, he was determined to keep his composure around his crew.

The doctor got to his feet, dusting some sand off his knees. “He’ll be okay, mild concussion. He may feel a little nauseous when he wakes up, but that will soon pass. I can give him an antiemetic if he feels really rough, but that would be the least he deserves for dragging us all down to this planet and kidnapping you.”

Winters shook his head, “Don’t be too hasty to judge, doctor. He is clearly suffering due to the loss of his sons. This will need to be something that we look into. Why does he blame us? Wyatt and I specifically?” The Captain gazed towards Wyatt, expecting some Earth-shattering revelation as usual. But the only response he got was a look of genuine confusion.

“Shall I have him beamed to the brig, sir?” Pibb spoke up. “I successfully deactivated the dampeners that prevented transport.”

“If the Doctor is happy that the patient is stable,” Winters gave Hauser a look which was returned with a nod, “Then by all means transport him up, Pibb - and take us with you!”

Pibb smiled slightly, knowing exactly how his CO felt, “Aye sir, I’ll arrange for an immediate transport.”
