- Guest Quarters, Starbase 10 -

“The time is 0800 hours.”

Steven awoke quickly from his deep slumber, interrupted by the sound of the computer’s voice. He sat up, stretched his arms into the air and yawned. Today was a big day; today was the day he would start his career onboard the Chuck Norris.

He flung the bed-sheets to one side, and got to his feet. “Computer, play some gentle music. Some Brahms perhaps. No wait, some Debussy. Clair de lune.” The soft piano driven piece of music started playing almost immediately. Steven adored classical music, especially 19th century European classical music.

The man walked to the bathroom and brushed his teeth before having a quick sonic shower. He’d already placed his fresh uniform out the previous evening. After getting dressed, he placed the single gold and single black pips onto his collar and stood up straight in front of the mirror. “Ready or not, here I come” he smiled.

He picked up his belongings and made his way out of the guest quarters. The Chuck Norris would be docking any time now, and he didn’t want to be late checking in.
