A New Task

Mission: From the Sidelines

ON: (U.S.S. Chuck Norris - Bridge)

As the doors to the ready room open, everyone looked over. Captain vonMcCormick came strolling out, not really paying to much attention to the world around him. In one hand a PADD, in the other, what looked to be a old controller of some kind. Perhaps to an antiquated video game system of the early 20th century. He never made really any eye contact with anyone as he both seemed enthralled with whatever he was reading, and disinterested with what transpiring on the ship. As least that's what it appeared on the outside, no one really knew what was going on, on this inside. The Captain had barley been seen out of his quarters since the crews arrival. He basically just pushed all the normal responsibilities onto Commander Winters. Aurther was still unsure if this was some sort of test, a drill or different kind of special, secret assignment that he had to just go with until things became clear. What was clear at this point was how taxing this was on him. The normal stress of being transferred to a new ship, mixed with the fact that the entire crew was new was causing a cluster in personal schedules, duty stations being assigned, even meeting with the crew. Combine that with some sort of broadcast team recording them on an assignment that he figured Captain Spice was aware of more details than him, was infuriating in a small sense. Aurther had to remain calm exterior, even though he knew internally that might just to dump some people off at the nearest M class planet and let them figure out their own way home.

"Commander." Captain vonMcCormick said in front of Winters.

"Yes sir?"

"Commander, since we are still 5 hours away from our destination, I want you to make sure that you have talked to department heads. Apparently it would appear that neither one of us has met the chief of security, Ensign Iris Unova. If you could find her and get her to the bridge, that would be good."

"Yes sir, will you take Command for awhile now?"

"What... no." vonMcCormick look started gripping his controller tighter as he handed the PADD to Winters. "I have... uh... important things to do in my quarters. Like I said originally, I'm very busy. But I leave it in your capable hands." With that the Captain hurried his way out of the bridge and back to the his quarters. Aurther looked down and over the PADD quickly to review this chief of security.

"Mr. Collier, you have the Conn."

"Yes sir" the 2nd Lt. fired back quickly.

Winters made his way out of the bridge, and on a search for their Orion Security chief.
