Promotion? Now?

Timeline: Enroute back to SB 10

"Sir, I really have no words. This, so soon. You honor me with your confidence. Though, not to try looking this... what do you humans say? Gift horse in the mouth, why? You have only seen me perform for a week?" G'ginloss thought in his head as the earlier announcement still rang in his head.

(In between the Chuck Norris leaving the planet and arriving at Starbase 10)

"Attention all hands, this is the Captain, I have an announcement to make to the crew. With everything that has happened over the last few days, the entire crew has performed well beyond anyone's expectations in the situation we were place in. However, some people went even farther and further than anyone could have asked, and it is with my pleasure to announce their promotion, attention to orders"

(Computer) "The federation has reposed special trust and confidence in the patriotism, valor, fidelity and professional excellence of Lt Ech'am G'ginloss, Ensign J'goss Vass G'odoss, and Lt Jg John Wyatt In full view of these qualities and their demonstrated leadership potential and their dedicated service to the Federation, they are, therefore, promoted to the following ranks. Lt G'ginloss is herby promoted to the rank of Lt Commander, Ensign G'odoss is herby promoted to full Lt, and Lt Junior Grade Wyatt is herby promoted to full Lt."

"In these past few days these men showed that they could perform under pressure, hit deadlines, be counted on, and pull off what no other crew could with this ship. Some have not been here long, yet they have shown that this promotion is not only well deserved, but also proper. It is my faith that the responsibilities they are now inheriting get put to good use. Know now that all under you look up to you and forever will keep you on your toes. A promotion is never a simple thing, yet it can be a powerful thing. I trust that each of you will continue to do this ship proud in your duties, and that you will continue to be outstanding in your field. That is all, carry on with repairs to help expedite our time that will be at Starbase 10. Winters out." Aurther closed the ship wide comm channel. He took this time to stand up from his desk, his legs ached and were a little sore from both probably sitting for too long, as well as some of the bumps and bruises he'd taken over the last few days. As he ran his hand through his hair, and looking out his small port hole, his eyes noticed a small amount of blood. It suddenly occurred to him that he had not seen the doctor since the incident came to an end. As he would continue the very known tradition of a ships Captain not seeing their doctor, the very fact that he had to wipe the blood off his hand to his uniform forced his hand in a sense.
"At least I will be able to see the crew and see how they're holding up." He thought to himself. Taking a moment to pick up a few more items off his floor, and organizing his desk, he began to make his way to sickbay.

Lt. Godosss looked back from the helm as he heard the doors to the Captain's ready room open. It was a feeling, but he could tell that the Captain was off in a way. However knowing it was more prudent to wait until they were in private, he followed Aurther out of the bridge and stopped him in the corridor.

"Captain...?" He waited until Winters turned his head to see who was talking. "Are you alright?"

"Yes Lieutenant, I'm just, a little shook up, and I haven't seen the doctor since she was stationed on the ship. I assumed I could just kill two birds with one stone on this one. But I will say, again, congratulations on going from an Ensign to a full Lieutenant. The reports filed about you, and myself must have impressed the higher ups at Command."

"Thank you sir, I know I feel great honor in it." The Klingon announced proudly. "I am glad to be part of such a fine vessel"

With that Winters smiled, nodded and continued on his way to sickbay.
