Mission:
Starbase 364
Location: Starbase 364 Promenade
Timeline: Present
{Starbase 364, Promenade Deck}
Trace set his duffel down on the bench and stretched his neck, taking in the familiar bustle of the starbase. Six months at the Daystrom Institute's Advanced Propulsion Lab had done wonders for his understanding of slipstream theory, but precious little for his patience with theoretical physicists who had never actually crawled inside a nacelle.
He pulled up the duty roster on his PADD and confirmed what the transfer orders had already told him — the Chuck Norris was docked at Bay 7. His ship. His engines.
He'd kept up with the mission logs when he could, though the classified portions of the Mirror Universe operation had been redacted beyond recognition. What little he'd pieced together didn't sit well with him. The crew had been through hell while he'd been buried in equations.
Geneva had messaged him three days ago. Short. To the point. "Get back here. K'ner's been running my people ragged." He'd smiled at that. She never was one for sentimentality.
A notification chimed on his PADD — new mission briefing. Escort detail to Degma. Near Klingon space. Romulan outpost. He scrolled through the intel summary and paused on a line about unusual subspace readings near the colony.
"Interesting," he muttered, pocketing the PADD.
He grabbed his duffel and headed for Bay 7. The Norris needed her Chief Engineer back, and from what he'd read in the damage reports, she needed him weeks ago.
