{Personal quarters, USS Chuck Norris 2 days ago.}
She awoke with a start, expecting to be drenched in sweat. She wasn’t. Mira was safe in bed next to Kevin.
Mira’s fingertips rubbed her forehead another headache was in full force. The dream or more of a nightmare had happened again. She would love to just shove it away behind one of the many doors the Vulcan doctor had helped her make in her mind but she had been warned not to.
First Let it play out then it would go back to being behind the door it should be. Fine she thought bitterly.
Kevin was asleep for the first time in days. Both her babies were sound asleep too. She slipped from the bed quietly and took a seat on the floor by the large screen set low on the wall and activated it. It looked like a fireplace. It could take on what ever image they wanted but she liked the fireplace. It brought back pleasant memories.
Sitting in a lotus pose Mira rested her hands on her knees and stared into the fire. It wasn’t the same as a real flame but it did help some with the concentration. Once her breathing had slowed she let the dream replay.
They were back in the Matrix of course most her nightmares came from there these days. If it wasn’t there then it was being held captive by the Orion slavers.
Her Intellectual mind told her that. It was in the past. Let it stay in the past. Just except what had happened and move on. It was easier said then done. Still she tried.
{Unknown alien landscape}
She came awake laying on her back in odd orange sand . It was a desert she amended the skies an sickly color green she didn’t have a name for. As she went to sit up she realized Kolar was curled up next to her. Her body was sore like she had lost to few fights and the sun was starting to rise. With the sun brought the heat.
Slowly she looked around. They were alone. Where was Vaytoc? Why was she here? They needed shelter and water.
“Mama, head hurts its so hot” Kolar grumbled his voice just above a whisper.
Mira smiled “I know little man. Let’s see if we can find some shade. If we are lucky water to” she whispered. She stood up slowly taking Kolar’s hand. As they walked she asked “Do you remember how we got here?”
“the bad bad mama it got us again.” Was all he said.
Mira nodded knowing his words to explain things was limited at his age. A vague memory of being pregnant. A memory of having someone to live her life with but where was he? What had happened?
A cave came into view. It was risky because it could be the home of a wild animal but the sun was out too high and it was to hot to remain outside.
She settled Kolar at the entrance. “I need to check if it’s safe.” She didn’t have any weapons so she picked up a rock. As far a weapons goes it was a joke but beggars couldn’t be choosy.
The cave was a lot larger then she had first thought and headed downwards. It looked like someone had lived here a long time ago. But most importantly there was water. It ran from a crack in the wall down into a small little pool. Moving back she got Kolar. The temperature was far cooler then outside.
Scooping some of the water in her hand she took a sip. Cool and clean. Or as much as she could tell it was clean. There was nothing to boil it in “I think it’s OK. Just drink a little and see how we feel.” At that point they really didn’t have a choice.
“Mama where dada and tock?” Kolar asked her as he looked around.
“I have no idea. I can feel Vaytoc but he is far away. He will find us.” She gave him a smile. Kevin was …. Well who knew. Perhaps with someone else? That couldn’t be the reason both Kolar and her were here. It didn’t seem right. Her life and things that seem to be happening around her was just to crazy.
She smiled the moment she felt Vaytoc’s connection. He had been a little feral until he connected with her again. He was running top speed to get to his pride.
As he ran he shared what he had found so far, his huge paws digging into the hot sand with little effort. It was all desert As far as the eyes could see. That wasn’t good.
Mira bit her lip.
“What Mama?”
She smiled “Vaytoc is on his way but all he sees is that sand outside.”
There was laugher breaking her connection to the dream and Kolar’s little arms were hugging her. She hugged him back. OK she would try again later.
