Mission: New Captain

Timeline: Current

OFF: Hello everyone! Want to greet you all tell you I am looking forward to getting back into simming as it's been almost 7 years since I did it, but I hope to get back into the swing of things!

ON: (U.S.S. Bonaventure)

The sound of chimes dancing through the air allowed Aurther to roll to the side of the bed and stretch. Normally, there might have been a slight panic about making sure he was awake on time to make sure he was at his duty station promptly. Not this time though, as he rubbed his neck and looked around his quarters. Normally decorated with various items from his childhood, his family and previous missions, now it was empty, almost a reminder of his previous days at the academy and early assignments.
Making his way to his his closet the door opened and he was greeted with the site of just one last uniform, the rest of them and all of his personal items were now packed would be waiting for him when he arrived at his no location.

Winters tapped his comm badge just as he finished up zipping his uniform, "Winters here, go ahead"

=/\= Sir, I was wondering if you could stop be engineering before you make your way to the transporter room =/\=

"No problem Lieutenant, is there a problem?"

=/\= No sir, just wanted to get your thoughts and opinions on a new protocol before you go =/\=

"I'll be there shortly, Winters out" Aurther checked his reflection just before leaving his spacious quarters for the last time.

Aurther checked out hallways and computer panels on his way to Engineering. He has be the XO of the Bonaventure for almost 5 years now, transferring in as the Chief Engineer after their last one transferred to a Starbase. She had a family, and wanted to be closer to them, and he understood. As a man who had yet to take up a family he could never really relate. He can still remember those days, the first days walking through the ship felt like the same now. Although he couldn't shake the feeling that he another place to be. There was nothing wrong with a Nebula class starship, but that's not what he cut his teeth on, it was not how he rose through the ranks of Starfleet. He once told a shipmate that about being the sword and shield of Starfleet, and running endless science missions had taken a slight toll on him. In all honestly it made him a bit fidgety. There had been much peace for the man, since his last post, he had welcomed the rest and relaxation sort of speak.
His thoughts were interrupted as he entered engineering only to have a small banner and the senior officers were waiting for him. Captain Soral greeted the man with a hardy handshake, for a Vulcan.

"Commander, it is agreeable to see you one last time."

"Captain, this was unnecessary."

"Agreed." The man said with a full stop and a long pause, "However some of the other officers have thought differently, so I allowed them to indulge.
Commander, it you have served this ship well for the last 5 years. Your service record stands for itself, and is one of the main reason I thought it fitting to make you my First Officer for the last 4. In that time I have learned to tolerate you."

"I will take that as a complement" Winters snuck in quickly to much laughter.

"Regardless of your futile attempts at humour..."laughter broke out again, "I know that this ship and her crew will miss your leadership and skills. We wish you the best on your new assignment. Live long and prosper." The two men each saluted each other and shook hands again. After some time saying his goodbyes the rest of the crew, Aurther was handed his travel bag by Lt. Yorke. The two nodded and again Winters was off in full stride as he checked the time. The goodbye had taken a little more time than expected but he was still on schedule. He knew the ship was no longer at warp by the sound of the engines. A short turbolift and walk had him in one of the transporters room. The blue glow of someone transporting away filled his eyes as soon as he walked in. The ship was now in orbit and he was his time to leave. He reached into his bag and pulled out a PADD, giving in to the transporter chief, smiling he stepped on the pad and waited. The chief checked over his destination quickly and looked back, almost a little confused and chuckled.

"Are you sure sir?"

"Yes..." Aurther looked down at his opened bag, smiling at his previous mission patch which was sewn onto one of his jackets. U.S.S. Chuck Norris, Defiant Class, "I think the universe needs me back there now. Energize."
