:: Starfleet Academy, San Francisco ::

Stellan hurried past some more people, looking back only to say sorry if he had accidentally brushed against them. Today was his first day as a lecturer at Starfleet Academy, and he was already late for his first class.

Despite being only 38 years old, the operations officer had already served onboard three different starships under four different commanding officers in his 16 year career. The knowledge he had gained under their tutelage had been invaluable. It had moulded him into the man he was today.

Stellan took a left turn down into an alleyway, hoping to dodge the endless crowd of Starfleet cadets that lined the walkways. It was empty and it led directly towards the building he had needed to be in approximately 15 minutes ago. “Dammit....” he managed to word as his legs started to give way slightly.

What happened next was completely unexpected and most definitely surreal. Stellan felt himself smash into something, something that he couldn’t see. Coming to a stop, he reached out his hands and felt something hard, cold and smooth in front of him, but he couldn’t see it.

“What is this?” He asked himself in wonder. “Is it cloaked?”

He shook his head, answering his own question. It couldn’t possibly be a cloaked vessel. Not even a small shuttle or a workbee could squeeze down this alleyway. It had to be something else. But what?

Before his mind had an opportunity to expand on the possibilities of what this invisible object could be, he dropped to his knees in excruciating pain. He grabbed his throbbing head, certain that it was going to explode at any second. Suddenly, in a bright purple flash, Stellan Everson disappeared.

:: USS Chuck Norris, Main Cargobay ::

Another bright purple flash appeared and Stellan was spat from within the light and onto the deck. He was covered from head to toe in a thin layer of purple gloop. He groaned slowly as he tried to get himself to his feet, but he couldn’t even lift his head.

The last thing he remembered as he lost consciousness, was the sound of the intruder alert klaxons sounding, the sound of rushing footsteps, and then there was nothing but blackness.
